Did they get it right?
Yes
I liked that the other two could be ruled out. One being impossible (not ending in 5 or 0) and the other simply not having the time to amass the points.

It seems a bit of a weird question. Like they conflated Colin's obsession with him not losing a round over his 8 games with his single game record score. I mean, he obviously didn't lose a round in that game but it's hardly a surprise and not something you'd normally bring up.

Kirk was on Eggheads today. Not sure if a repeat, but the value was a lot higher than Lauren/Aidan's show last week so I presume it was.

Haven't seen it yet - but I'm rooting for my mate Jack (who also knows Sam C-L so is pretty well connected to countdown!)
Tom Stevenson (Series 86 Champion) will be on Pointless on 21st August 2024 @ 5:15 pm on BBC One/iPlayer. He’ll have up to 3 chances (used to be 2 but now it’s 3) to make the final, so could potentially be on 22nd and 23rd as well if eliminated.

This is today!
Certainly not my finest display of quizzing, there- in fact, I've been cringing about it since it was filmed (last September). Was dead set on going for either Nicola Adams or James Arthur, but could only think of obvious answers bar that. The amount of time you get to think of an answer is practically the same at home, as it is in studio, so not overly easy when trying to come up with something, and talking to Alexander at the same time. Always tomorrow...
With Lingo finally resuming Series 3 after an 18-month break(!), 3rd September @ 3 pm will feature Countdown, Scrabble, Crossword and all-round gameshow contestant, David Webb! This episode was recorded 2 years ago.

Series 77 contestant Alex Smith on Password (Episode 2) on ITV X. (Hilarious btw)
Would be a great daily daytime show with a "winner stays on" format and different celebrities each week.
Maybe. Apparently Lingo will allow winners to stay on for up to three shows from Series 4 (recorded but yet to air). I would like to see more shows do this.
Kai, a moustache and a shirt with Ayrton Senna colours VS a quiz team with over ten TV quiz show appearances between them including the youngest ever Mastermind champion? Absolutely stacked episode.
Why did the Appearance of the 5Ks on OC go unmentioned here?
Fiona Titcombe, Thomas Carey, and captain James Haughton.
Hopefully the nerves will settle a bit in their 2nd outing...

It was discussed (relatively briefly) on the Only Connect thread
