Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 9th December QF4
I'm just bracing myself for Jo Brand's persistent, "I've got a 7", followed by an ever sooooo funny (NOT!) explanation of the "meaning" of the "word."
Surely Des and Carol could have got a better guest for their final week.

I don't know whether I should be proud to admit I predicted Jo's "pasteear" or ashamed that I've been spending most of the game trying to predict what word she will come up with rather than playing!

I thought NOBESITY was pretty funny. Jo Brand would be better off announcing made-up words every other round instead of each round.

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 9th December QF4
LASERDISC was indeed a nightmare conundrum. I was gonna say after 10 rounds that this was Kai's best game, but he went off just a little at the end. In fact, isn't that his lowest score? It's also the first time he has failed to get a conundrum. I thought he actually played very very well and the fact that Debbi took a few points off him at the end hides that a bit.
If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 9th December QF4
Congratulations to Kai on getting through. I got off to a flying start with 39 points in 1st 4 word games.
R1 immediately saw SAILOR but managed to spot SOLARIA after 28 secs (matched by DC)
R2 - I went for MORALISER but was concerned whether moralist may be the correct term.
REEKING and COMRADE as alternatives in R's 3 and 4.
1st numbers game alternative - (100 - 9) x 9 = 819 + (3 x 5) = 834
On a par with Kai and Debbi in word games 5 to 7. Beaten by Kai in R8 and by Debbi in following word game. Alternative 7 with DENOTED in following game.
Alternative last numbers with (9 x 25) +50 + 2 = 277
I was impressed with Kai's calculation to get to 949 in 2nd numbers game (i only managed 950).
Missed out on LASERDISC. Looking forward to seeing the semi finals. Unlike many of the previous series, it's hard to call whether it will be Charlie, Kai, Martin or Junaid who ends up winning.
Good luck to you all.

Well done Kai.I thought as long as Kai is within ten points of his opponent he will win it on the conundrum, but you failed for the first time. But to be fair you have probably never heard of a laserdisc.I think they were a very short lived medium to play films at home.Made by Phillips if my memory serves me right.
The numbers clinched it for you.

ELISIONS was an alternative 8 in Round 11 (I did also wonder whether JOINLESS would be allowed - I suspect not).
Congratulations Kai on reaching the semis.

Good spot. This was the only letters round I failed to get the maximum in so it can't have been that easy. I also missed the conundrum and the incredibly hard 947 (it is possible and a certain site puts it at a 99% difficulty rating).PeterMabey wrote:BIOTYPES was almost spelt out

Re: Spoilers for Tuesday 9th December QF4
I got LIONESS on one letters round. No idea which one, and it wasn't a winner, but still I was happy as it's a cat word. I know, the point isn't to get words you like, but still...
Did anyone notice when Carol was putting up some letters and the first two were a R then a W and she said "Aw" smiled, and stroked the W? Bless RW, always in her thoughts.
I want Kai to win... I came in late and the show had already started and my eight year old son excitedly said "Mum, Kai the kid is back on." So a vote from Aidan is a vote from me. And what a lovely voice you have Kai - you should've auditioned for the Olivers.

I did notice that reaction from Carol. I also noticed a reaction from her in an earlier round when the first two letters to come out were S and M. She seemed to realise quickly that the programme was pre watershed, so said nothing and quickly moved on.Lesley Jeavons wrote:Did anyone notice when Carol was putting up some letters and the first two were a R then a W and she said "Aw" smiled, and stroked the W? One other thing I noticed was Kai's watch. I'm convinced that was the one he was given on the morning of his 12th birthday. Ok, in the introduction it was said that he was twelve, but when the programme was recorded, it was still a few weeks before his 12th birthday. Had he been lent it in advance to add to the illusion that he was twelve, I wonder? Am I correct, Kai?

I was actually given it in the summer holidays but it was treated as a birthday present so my mum and dad didn't have to buy me as much.Howard Somerset wrote:One other thing I noticed was Kai's watch.
