Rachel put antedote up on the board. Has to be ANTIDOTE. Which wasn't in the selection.

Antedote today and reorbit yesterday? Susie can't return soon enough!

This I why I think a stand-in lexicographer would be better, rather than just a one-person dictionary corner – which is how they used to do it. The lexicographer is there to keep the letters discipline all in order. Or, if DC is one-person, at least have a lexicographer (like Lemn Sissay).

Could have used ERMADYALL as the conundrum scramble!
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

R14 alt: (25-8-4)*75+5.
Conundrums seem to be more challenging these days.

Who was the last contestant to have a name that was a valid conundrum (one for the Ask Graeme thread maybe)? I found SAMHOLDEN from s76, but as the answer is a plural it wouldn't be allowed

I don't know which was the last contestant whose name is an anagram of a valid 9, but contestants' names have been used as conundrum scrambles before.
Mike Grant had his name used as a scramble a few months after his appearance, and Ian Talbot was given his own name as a conundrum.

Disappointing that Ian Talbot didn't know that one. Also possibly a bit unfair on his opponent (Zarte in fact) given that there was a reasonable chance he would.Graeme Cole wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 8:59 pm I don't know which was the last contestant whose name is an anagram of a valid 9, but contestants' names have been used as conundrum scrambles before.

yeah not a fan of using people's names for conundrums - good chance apto-people know the common ones with their own name in!Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 9:37 pmDisappointing that Ian Talbot didn't know that one. TOTARAS in R11
R3 LNAFP: (8*3+7)*6 = 186
R14 Alt.: ((75-25)*5-3)*4-8 = 980
