It used to irritate me a little that Nick was obviously so hopeless at Countdown, but Colin seems to go farther and farther in the opposite direction. It was bad enough the other day when he had all four of the presenters say they had got a conundrum that the two contestants had missed, but it seemed like every other round this time that he had to proclaim how clever he was. Even when he doesn't get a numbers game his position is that if he can't get it, it must be really difficult.

I tend to agree about that and I've said before about how he often isn't very diplomatic when talking about the losing contestant.
