What is the best non dairy milk for coffee ?
I worked a few weeks in Waitrose and noticed all the different types of non diary milks out there.
I drink my coffee at home and only semi skimmed works for me as I tried soya milk and although it's fine in cereal doesn't work for me , but I'm willing to try another alternative based on a recommendation.
For once I cannot turn to Gev as he doesn't like the brown liquid

I don't particularly drink coffee, but have had a latte with oat milk which was perfectly potable.

I've tried them all and nothing beats cow milk.

I wouldn't have thought any milk or milk substitute would be enough to hide the taste of coffee. Just drink something that doesn't need its taste hiding.

undoubtedly it is the Barista version of Oatly. The Barista version is worth it.
oat milk in general is the best for coffee in terms of smoothness (some like soy can curdle) and oat milk is also pretty much the best for the planet too

This is the best one I had too. The first few sips are acceptable but as you get down the cup it gets somehow "thicker" to the point where it's basically undrinkable for me. But yeah it's better than most.Matt Morrison wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 9:46 am undoubtedly it is the Barista version of Oatly. The Barista version is worth it.

May or may not be the problem but note that you have to give all oat milks a vinegar strokes-level shake before pouring.Jon O'Neill wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 9:48 amThis is the best one I had too. Oatly is good on cereal and doesn't have a weird and slightly unpleasant taste that e.g. soya milk has. But I think it's low in protein and isn't a good milk substitute nutritionally.
But coffee has such a strong taste, if you're trying to dampen it down with a milk substitute I really think it's not going to make much difference which you use.

Soya is shit.
Almond is okay.
Coconut is decent but I've heard it's not so good for you/the planet.
Oat is very good.
Cashew is nice if you can find it.
Hazelnut makes everything taste like Nutella.
For hot drinks, the best milk is no milk.

Rice milk is a more common one missing from Callum's experimentation.Marc Meakin wrote: ↑Tue Aug 18, 2020 5:12 amHave you tried the hemp ?Callum Todd wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 9:40 pm Soya is shit.

Pea milk is a more obscure one but with good protein content. Tastes weird though.
