Great showing today Chris, Plateful was a very nice spot. Was wondering as to whether you used some anagram techniques when practising for Countdown or not? Nevertheless, good job!

Cheers folks. Can't believe I said Whatever when I made a mess of the first numbers round.
Anagrammy techniques and too much Scrabble really helped. Epistoma is brilliant.
Did you see my link in the General thread under Anagrammy credits..?

What was Paul Zenon's trick today. In a hotel which doesn't have channel 4 on the tv for some reason. And can't watch it on channel4's website.

Thanks. have found that creating "falsies" like Roadiest (invalid) = Asteroid and word stems like Urinated + C= Curtained have enhanced my play and know that many devise their own after missing missed words whilst playing along, or use the Lexplorer function on the Countdown practise site Apterous, though I think the Lexplorer feature is members only.Chris Sturdy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 3:24 pm Anagrammy techniques and too much Scrabble really helped. His trick involved drawing an outline of his right hand on a piece of black paper, then asked Rachel to pick a finger (She chose the pinky). Susie then drew a red cross on it.Owen Carroll wrote: ↑Tue Oct 30, 2018 4:20 pm What was Paul Zenon's trick today. In a hotel which doesn't have channel 4 on the tv for some reason. Paul then used the same candle from yesterday to burn up that piece of paper and he then had a "blister" on the pinky of his right hand from burning the paper (Of course, the customary pretending was there...)
Alternative for R6: 75 × 6 + (9 + 5) × (10 - 8)
Got this too Was thinking of EPITOMY as the base word...

Strong and sturdy debut there, PLATEFUL was a great spot. One might want a plateful of POMATOES in R12.
