Paul went from a 42 point deficit to just a 12 point decifit, would've been sensational if he won.

INDWELT to beat BLEWIT
A couple of interesting alternatives for the numbers:
(25+9x(6-4))x(10+1) = 473
(75/3-7)x9 = 162
If I see factorisation of a the target, I like to go for it & I saw these in time :D

Yeah, had that happened, it would've been the biggest upset in the entire history of the show!

Letters: R7 was pretty much recycled from yesterday's R12 if you know what I mean...Phil's early spot of OUTRANGES in R2 did some damage to Paul, but guess what, Paul made it up with OUTWORE, PARKOUR and MAISONS in R8, R10 and R13! The last spot especially, even I didn't spot this one coming!

Numbers: Just like the Second Quarter-Finals, all the Numbers Rounds are TOO EASY. Really? I expected harder ones, and for those on the Daily Chat reading this, you would know I got so mad because it's too easy I screwed up R9... All 40 Points were grabbable, if only they thought simpler in R14... :(

Conundrum: Yes! I got this one in six seconds! There we go, my target of two has been reached! But hey, let me see if I can solve the ones in the SFs and GF! I'm sure they'll be harder though...

Wow, that was definitely tense! I'm sure all of you thought "There's no way Phil would be in danger of losing" after R4, in fact I even thought of Phil thrashing Paul similar to what happened to Jan Pask when she went up against Zarte Siempre last Thursday. That turned out to be completely and utterly wrong. Paul made a near-historic comeback, turning a 42 point deficit to a 12 point deficit with his Letters Rounds like what Ray mentioned. I'm sure Phil was so visibly shaken but in the end, it was not enough to force a Crucial Conundrum and that meant Phil automatically won. Paul, if you're reading this, you were absolutely on form, although you struggled at the beginning, the performance you gave showed that anything is possible and to never give up until the very end! :) Phil continues on with 9 Wins and 838 Points while Paul ends his with 8 Wins and 808 Points and another shot at becoming Champion sadly...

The four Semi-Finalists are known already: Zarte Siempre, Philip Aston, Dougie Mackay and Phil Daives. Tomorrow, the last third episode of the Series, "Guy Who Made History in the Finals by Thrashing Player by more than 100 Points" Zarte Siempre vs "Ex-Cop who is Glad to be Not Shot" Phil Davies, who will prevail and secure a spot in the Grand Final? :) Personally, I expect Zarte of course...and Phil, don't say "It'll be fine" too early today, if you get thrashed tomorrow like Jan I bet you'll probably be eating your words. (Although you of course know yourself already...)

Progress:
QF1 (14 June): Zarte Siempre vs Jan Pask (124 - 19)
QF2 (15 June): Toby McDonald vs Philip Aston (97 - 104)
QF3 (18 June): Chris Thorn vs Dougie Mackay (68 - 97)
QF4 (19 June): Phil Davies vs Paul Harper (81 - 69)
SF1 (20 June): Zarte Siempre vs Phil Davies
SF2 (21 June): Philip Aston vs Dougie Mackay
GF (22 June): (SF1 Winner) vs (SF2 Winner)

FLEAPITS to beat PALATES (and DC), though apparently PALAFITES was also on offer.
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

*pushes the reset button on your sense of humour*

This was not long before he offered a bribe, and then threatened to puncture my tyres to stop me getting on set. Phil's a joker - that wasn't to be taken too seriously.
Possibly the first contestant to accelerate with a mic clipped...

A comeback like Paul's would have defo been crucial conundrum worthy, but well done to Phil and his great start ultimately helped him there....

Really good game. Feel bad that Paul once again couldn't get past the qf but Phil deserved it.

And now, see for yourself whether I was on form or not.
R1: staple
R2: outranges! My first nine in a final since s76
R3: 821
R4: Orange
R5: retain
R6: same way
R7: violated/delation/dovetail
R8: either woulda said quoter or quote
R9: same as Paul
R10: park
R11: wilted
R12: mogues
R13: aminos
R14: same as Rachel
R15: think I thought of it in passing. Mighta gone for it. But it's killing me not knowing if I woulda declared or not.

Think I'd have won today. Anyway congrats Phil and commiserations Paul.

Sorry to be nit-picky Owen but you can't have Aminos- don't know if that would have affected anything.

Yeah, decent game. Shame it didn't quite go to a crucial. I didn't think the 737 was that easy, as someone said above. I actually did (100+8/4)*6+50+75, rather than adding the 8 and 4 separately, so arguably I made a bit of a meal of it.

BTW I didn't spot a Toby McDonald behind the lady who solved the conundrum today, or maybe it was just an assumption... :)
