Graeme Cheek got a very close, but nonetheless third win yesterday. Can he make it four?

R3 I had ((5 - 1) x 9 + 75) x 8 but Rachel's way was more efficient. Graham still seems to be struggling a bit with his numbers under studio pressure and nerves!

Credit where it's due, R13 was a class 6th consonant as it nearly gave TRIUMPHED or IMPRUDENT for 9.

Graeme could have added the R to his DISPUTE. On balannce Andrew deserved that win.
Will have to get used to the new 2:40 start time next week.

I'm assuming (and hoping) that this will only be temporary because of the Superstar Dogs thing.Tony Atkins wrote:Will have to get used to the new 2:40 start time next week.

Not pleased to hear about the earlier start. Even if it's just temporary, Countdown should not have to be moved to accommodate that stupid dogs show.

I think nerves got the better of the players today. I'm sure they could both play much better than that if the occasion hadn't got to them.

DOMINIE in round 8 as an equaller.
2nd Numbers Alt. (The Long Way ): (7 x 4 x 25) - 10 - 10 - 8 = 672
Glad to see Andrew win I must say, he deserved it, and I think Graeme had been on borrowed time for a bit..........

Re: Spoilers for Wednesday February 12th 2014 (S70 P28)
Having been in the green room with both the players beforehand, you would be right in thinking that nerves were taking their toll.
Graeme was looking visibly more tired with each crucial conundrum that he'd won, to the point where he almost seemed glad that Andrew put him out of his misery in the end. And prior to the game Andrew had gone a most peculiar shade of grey, and his nerves were probably not helps by Nick quizzing him then going on a rant about farming out of wind turbine production to China which (having left the audience and Rachel slightly unsure how to respond) unsurprisingly didn't make the cut.
Trust me when I say that both players were significantly better at their numbers behind the scenes.
