The future of c4countdown -- your help wanted!
As some of you may know, this forum and the wiki has been hosted since 2008 on Cambridge University's student-run computing facility, which basically means it didn't cost anything to run. Alas, I've finally stopped being a student and quite soon we'll have to stop using the SRCF. I've moved the wiki to a new host, the informatively-named 5quidhost.co.uk, and since the wiki is basically part of apterous I'll continue to pay for that myself.
Next up is to move this place. I would like to move it to 5quidhost and keep it free to use and free of ads. So what I propose is that we all chip in and see if we can reach the heady heights of £5 a month. We can pay month-to-month and do this as an on-going thing, but best of all would be if we can reach £150, at which point we can get a massive 50% discount and pay for the next 5 years all at once. So that's the target. In the unlikely event that we actually get a surplus, I'll give everyone pro rata refunds.
So, let's give it a try. If you'd like to donate, click the button!

Awesome start guys, I think we raised £112.57 in the first 24 hours. (I won't name the person that donated a weird amount, but own up if you wish!) Just a few more should get us to the big 150.

And we're done! We're now hosted with 5quidhost. Hopefully no one will notice the difference, although the site should be fractionally faster and more reliable.
Thanks again for an awesome fundraiser, I can't believe the whole thing took less than 2 days. See you in 5 years for the next one!

I've put a note in in my dairy (and the cows ate it) so put it in my diary instead.Charlie Reams wrote:Thanks again for an awesome fundraiser, I can't believe the whole thing took less than 2 days. See you in 5 years for the next one!
Glad we have the security of 5 years.
