Spoilers for Tuesday July 23rd 2013 (Series 69 Prelim 17)
Rory Coleman has had two pretty good wins in a row. Can he get a third? We begin an interesting period of Countdown, as I recall we get 3 apterites in 7 prelims, the first being the newest, Graham Harrison tomorrow. Let's see how Rory and the new apterite fare.

From what I can recall, I think this is actually the first of 4 apterites in 11 prelims.
With Zarte's much anticipated debut tomorrow, is Graham Harrison about to spoil the party?

Lots of alts but no beaters so far: eg LORINER in R4 and MODISTE in R7.
Also making 111x5 is a slower but nice way to 555.

Jessica submitted MESTIZO for an alternative in round 7 and NEGATORS in round 12.
Then showed off in the last numbers round: (10 x 100)/(6 - 2)
scored 129
Mauro/Jessica
edit: Noticed Nick wasn't wearing his glasses again today, didn't wear them yesterday, contacts

Great game! Unlucky Graham, I thought you had it in the bag but it was a fantastic comeback by Rory, obviously helped by the timely nine.

In 30 years of Countdown, no player has been more than 21 points behind with three rounds left and gone on to win.
Rory broke that record today - he won having been 26 behind going into R13.

That's why I was so desperate to recap this, me and Jonathan were so amazed at the comeback, I knew it was close to one of the best, and we couldn't believe what we sawGraeme Cole wrote:In 30 years of Countdown, no player has been more than 21 points behind with three rounds left and gone on to win.

He was really unlucky Zarte, definitely the best player overall between the 2. Probably one of the best players not to have won a game.Zarte Siempre wrote:My poor mate Graham

No. Before this game, the biggest overturned deficit with four rounds left was 27, in this game.Chris Marshall wrote:Has anyone ever come back from 33 behind with 4 rounds left?Graeme Cole wrote:In 30 years of Countdown, no player has been more than 21 points behind with three rounds left and gone on to win.
