Good luck, Craig!
And Lee or Michael, would you please tell us if Allan is any relation to you both?

Michael and Lee's surname is Simmonds, whereas Allan's is Simmons so I doubt it!

Yeah, 3 games to 1. They didn't even need a 5th game at 3:30pm (though not sure when game 4 actually ended).Gavin Chipper wrote:Looks like Craig lost.
Commiserations to Craig.

The Times did a write up which makes Craig out to be pretty awesome. Bad luck Craig, hopefully next year...

Re: Craig Beevers in NSC Final today
Yea, don't think I could have done much more - 3 of the my main errors involved words I'm not familiar with (two 6 letter words and an incredibly unlikely 8). Even not challenging the phoney only cost me about 15 points and I lost that one by plenty.

Commiserations, Craig.
As the article said, Simmons has been playing Scrabble competitively since the 1980s, whereas you've only been playing for 4 years.
Plenty more years ahead to knock him off his pedestal!

Re: Craig Beevers in NSC Final today
It's been said before that there's more luck involved in Scrabble than in Countdown (or "random chance variable" as Martin Gardner would put it). So it's always difficult to know if Craig was outplayed or not, without asking him. So, Craig? Well done, though, on reaching the final.
