Cerebral distractions of every kind, mostly but not exclusively Countdown-related.

UK Open Sudoku and Puzzle Tournament 28-29 April 2012

Post by Neil Zussman »

(Hope it's alright to post this here- obviously Countdowners are all intelligent people, so I thought it might appeal...)

Hi all,

Any Countdowners who are also interested in logic problems (the Sudoku/ Kakuro kind, not the word kind where you're told things like 'Bob is older than Sue, who owns the cat') might be interested to know that the UK Puzzle Association (UKPA) is running a tournament/ puzzle convention at the end of April in Manchester. Anyone is welcome, whether it takes you 3 minutes or 3 hours to solve them!

The kind of puzzles that will be on show are the types used at the World Puzzle Championships. They're all 'language-neutral' to allow people of all nationalities to compete without having to know obscure definition- a small selection can be seen here: http://www.worldpuzzle.org/championship ... zzles.html. The UKPA is responsible for picking the UK team to compete at these championships, which they do via a couple of online tests throughout the year. If you're interested, come along, learn more, and you could be representing the country in Croatia later this year!

For more information, please go to: http://forum.ukpuzzles.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=541.

Cheers,
Neil
