You need to rewatch the Simpsons episode A Streetcar Named Marge. From Wikipedia:
The episode contains multiple references to Ayn Rand's novels and Objectivist philosophy. Maggie's daycare center is called the "Ayn Rand School for Tots", and Ms. Sinclair can be seen reading a book called The Fountainhead Diet, a reference to Rand's novel The Fountainhead. On the wall of the daycare is a poster that reads "Helping is Futile", an allusion to Rand's rejection of the ethical doctrine of altruism. Another wall sign reads "A is A," the law of identity, which plays a central role in Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged.

I saw the advert for it and I thought "that looks good" but I was busy losing the quiz last night. Will get round to watching it though I reckon although didn't realise it was in parts, thought it was just a one off.
Not a Simpsons fan. I loved Bioshock. I knew about the principles of the objectivist philosophy, just not her name. Or maybe I did but discovering it's Ayn and not Ann has thrown me.

Just watched it. I wish I was a bit more smart and keyed up on things and wish I understood economics and stuff more (it baffles me). Whilst watching this I always felt like the programme was a bit wasted on me. Quite cool though was that mentioned things in it like the East Asian Miracle which I actually have a fucking exam on tomorrow. So I can say that I've just done 59 minutes of "revision" at least.
I'll probably watch it again and do quite a bit of readinh up on stuff relating to it too so I feel nourished.
Yeah same really Ryan. A lot of the "this, so, this" links that were meant to be pretty smooth left me a bit confused, but still found it a good watch. Adam Davis does good documentaries I think.
i thought it was excellent.
That Greenspan bloke was one creepy looking dude, who made Clinton looked impotent (that must have took some doing)
As for Ayn Rand she was certainly a great thinker, but what a fucking hypocrite.

Interesting anecdote (although I use the word interesting loosely): So it turns out that I had an exam at 9.30 this morning rather than 13.30 as I had initially thought. Found this out at about 8.15 meaning I had like half an hour to cram (since my plan on spending 4 hours this morning revising was quickly extinguished). Anyway, you answer 3 questions out of 9 on the paper and on one of the questions I aswered I pretty much just answeredit with my knowledge of that 59minutes of BBC documentary. And I'm not even kidding. Will post back if this was a good or bad idea when I get the results back.
