This October my granny-in-law will be 100, and is an avid fan. (I realise she's not strictly a centenarian yet, but meh.) She's pretty cool, likes to keep on top of the football leagues and watches X-factor and the like (I do like to see the young 'uns enjoying isselves) and refused to move into a rest home on the basis she'd be with 'old folks'. I've tried to replicate the accent, as she's Worcester born and bred, and she really is as sharp as a pin.
Anyway, here are some of the more entertaining quotes she's come out with:
"Int that Rachel a lovely young girl. I dunno why she keeps wearing these great big long dresses though. Legs like that on a gal 'er age she want to show em off, not hide 'em away."
"Oooo int that Jeff a looker. Much better than that Des [O'Connor], 'e never knew what 'e was doin', but I don't reckon 'is [Jeff's] jokes are up to much."
"They reckon they'm got Wogan lined up. 'E's like that little creep Noel Edmonds, I can't stand 'im. 'E gets into everything. They both do."
"You shoulda sin this young lad on today, 'e was brilliant. I dunno 'ow they does it, I really don't. All them words!" [tbf this is a regular chant]
