Apparently my memory for conundrum answers doesn't quite extend as far as 16 minutes...

Mount Conundrum game

My next game

I recognised the jumble immediately then spent 30 seconds failing to remember what it unscrambled to.

I used to have a Stickie on my old computer with a whole list of conundrums I came up with…one of them was DEAR SHAPE / SPEARHEAD. Then one time I actually had it in a game…I forget what the scramble was, but I thought "hey, DEAR SHAPE…I know the answer to that one…wait, what was it?"

Set 4 new high scores in a week and none of them will even make it to the voting stage for GOTW because they're not in the top 5 for number of nominations. :(

How did this thread fall so far? One can't be as his best without being able to laugh at his worst.

Eight! Eight disallowed words! Ah ah ah ah

Notable rounds include R6, where I didn't even have a valid 4, round 7 where I actually had a safe 7 but was somehow confident enough in that for some reason to declare it instead, and R8, where I had PALLETS written but didn't think that was how it was spelled for some reason (I was thinking of the wooden planks you put stuff on, not the taste for food). I also like R12, where I got that 8 easily, saw the D, figured I needed a 9 and went for it, and it turns out there was a -ED 9 there anyways. Ah well.

EDIT: I also noticed the last game I played against Niall I managed 5 disallowed words in the last 7 letters, meaning I'm 5 for my last 18 in being able to speak English against him. Are you , like, a wizard or something?

Reminds me of this (N)guy(en).
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

On a brighter note you hopefully learnt 2 invaluable falseagrams in CARDIOS^=SARCOID and MOISTURED^=MISROUTED which I think most players fall into the trap of making early doors, same goes for CARDIOES^=IDOCRASE and LOCATERS^=CROTALES to name a couple.

Pop quiz: You have the following numbers left on the input screen of a hypernums game where the target is 9352:

1330 25 7 4 1 3

Solve this game.

Hint: 1330x7=9310.

How does your decision change when this is round 20 of a game you're on for a max in?

EDIT: I botched round 20 on track for a 200 two more times before getting it... wtf me :x

I'm flattered that you'd think I needed to make a conscious effort to be terrible.

This game should have been one for the brag thread. I did a 4L attack and was on 190 after 19 rounds. I've had a few 4L attack maxes but never 200 so this was my chance. And then I missed an absolute sitter!  :x

Here is the list of most max games, by format. I'm tied for the most max numbers attacks.

This and this are my first two attempts of the day to get #22

fml I am such a choke artist

EDIT: looked again at game 2 after twitch closing the window in disgust and suddenly (((25*5)-3)*7)-50 within 3 seconds on a 2nd glance go me

EDIT2: WOW ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS I think I'm just going to curl up and sob quietly to myself and what I've become

EDIT3: alright I did finally get it and it was half 3L which is pretty cool but still damn I wish I'd gotten the all 3L game that would've nailed it in style

Well right now I'm playing a 1,000 round 2L game vs. Prime, winning by a decent amount right now but I'm not even at 90% maxed. I am getting a lot of crappy rounds (stuff with two 1s, all even smalls + large odd target, and bad absolute modulo 5* setups) though so I think this might start to go back up. Point is I won't be trying to max any more games for a while so you can take it back pretty quickly

though I can max 2L NAs with pretty regular frequency now -- with a 92% round max rate that's almost 19% of games maxed. So if you ever decide to take that record back, I'll be there to challenge for it :P

*how far away a number is from the nearest multiple of 5. So, all larges, 5 and 10 are AM5 0; 1, 4, 6, 9 are AM5 1; and 2, 3, 7, 8 are AM5 2. Rounds with a target that's AM5 number doesn't match any of the numbers in the selection tend to be deceptively hard to get via conventional means.

I'm going to have a load of games against Plum today to try and get the 6-small max game. I already have max games for 1-large, 2-large and 3-large in 20 round games. Think I'm quite a bit off achieving the 4-large max game though.

oooh, good luck with that, I've had a few 19s myself but have yet to get it, got 3L a bit ago but it was a double max vs. Prime :x

I've also had a 197 in 4L with 200 max but the round I missed was itself pretty scraggish (6 3 -> 922). I think you can get 4L too if you try :)

If I was into erotic asphyxiation, I'd be majorly getting off on this choke.

Ouch! And double ouch given that this is one of your aims in your interview with Charlie. And treble ouch for missing out on being only the 7th person to do it. And quadruple ouch for failing to be the first female to achieve this. And quintuple ouch, because, well, you suck.

Max a round only 5 people get spot-on, finish in the bottom third.

Smooth move, Ex-Lax.
