Spoilers for Friday 10 December 2010
Well...
Well...
Well...
The Hurst has ploughed through Peter God-thankfully-he-didn't-Win.
Now after double physics (with Mr Walker (Cue Rude jokes)) to round off my half day last day (of term), I'll be seeing Niall "I'm actually really old" Young v Eoin "I got A* in my GSCE's" Mongahan.
Now... who's your money on?

I'd put my student loan on Eoin winning this one.

Agreed, I've not seen any of Nialls games, but I can't see Eoin losing to 7th seed.

Re: Spoilers for Friday 10 December 2010
Niall has missed a couple of easy nines, COMPANIED and EMIGRATES (Niall had MIGRATES but didn't put the E at the front!), which would've been food and drink for Eoin. Until yesterday, he was also the only octochamp I'd ever beaten while playing from home (trufax). Eoin is a brilliant player and will reach the final, I reckon. Eoin could even win the series, if Jack isn't at his best (like yesterday).

That's a good point, I have spent it. Were it not for the fact I use Ladbrokes as a bank, then I'd be screwed. I wish our uni network didn't block Apterous; I wouldn't go out nearly as much then! I'd also be a lot better at the game and wouldn't be as worried about my appearance on the show.Ryan Taylor wrote:You mean you haven't spent the first lot already? Excellent! My uni blocks apterous too which I suppose is sort of a good thing. The casino proved a useful source of free money for about 2 monhs before things took a turn for the worse. Still, I'm not in as much financial difficulty as Meakin.Dan McColm wrote:That's a good point, I have spent it. Were it not for the fact I use Ladbrokes as a bank, then I'd be screwed. Great stuff, Eoin
The first two quarters were relatively easy to call, the next two are tricky.

MYELOID.
Swish performance from Eoin, he's my favourite to win the series now.

Or about 544.85 in old money. It's interesting that it's fairly standard these days for players to beat the best ever in the nine-round format.James Robinson wrote:Firstly, No.2 Seed Eoin Monaghan - 8 Wins, 898 Points

Re: Spoilers for Friday 10 December 2010
Pfffff, that was super-phenomenal, Eoin. Very well done.
Next week is going to have to be mega awesome to top these first 2 quarter-finals.
2nd Numbers Alt.: (9 x 75) - (6 x 6) - 1 = 638
3rd Numbers Alt.: (50 - 2) x (7 + 4) = 528

When did the letters distribution change? I imagine that would be a factor.Gavin Chipper wrote:Or about 544.85 in old money. Edit: That might be an intersting exercise for some of you Stattos. Percentage maxes for various letter distributions.

I dunno about letter distributions - I think they might have been tweaked at various times. And then there's the way they've been shuffled...Liam Tiernan wrote:When did the letters distribution change? I imagine that would be a factor.Gavin Chipper wrote:Or about 544.85 in old money. Just seen this on 4OD - scarily good performance from Eoin. One of those games where I put my pen and paper to one side and just admire the standard of play.

I wouldn't call COMPANIED easy at all. I wouldn't have risked it and can't remember what it means.Dan McColm wrote:Niall has missed a couple of easy nines, COMPANIED and EMIGRATES (Niall had MIGRATES but didn't put the E at the front!), which would've been food and drink for Eoin.
An impressive performance by Eoin. Not sure how much bearing it has on the rest of the finals. The other games take place on a new day of filming, so getting a good night's sleep could be more important.
I also have a sneaking suspicion that Daniel Pati could yet pull off something amazing.
