What exactly did Whiteley do here? Did he spell it out? If he "phonetically" read it, Foster would have had no way of knowing if he meant NAZELIFUN or NASELIFUN or NAZOLOFUN or whatever.
There are three erors in this semtence.

I don't know what happened in this episode, but I do remember watching this other one. Alison Moore was partially sighted. Richard simply pronounced "TEN MATTER" while starting the clock, after explaining to viewers that this is what they were going to do and that Alison was happy with it. Perhaps for this later episode they'd deliberately chosen a conundrum scramble which was unambiguous when pronounced.

They could have had a piece of braille made up by the production team, and someone would have to hide behind the desk covering it up until the time was appropriate.
