Gonna do some Series 17, I'll take the first 20, though Mike's done two of them, so I'll do it up to Thu 9-Feb-89.

P.S. Charlie, my recap for the first game in series 17 still only shows at the bottom of the page, with that stupid blank one at the top. Please could you change this? :D

By the way, I notice your interests include "trying to be the guy on here with the most posts who has not played a game on apterous". How's that working out for you?

Forgot to say earlier, as tradition dictates... SERIES 5 DONE! Now onto the first ever Championship of Champions, which I'm particularly looking forward to recapping. And according to CDB, we appear to have now completed three-quarters of all the 9- (and 14-) rounders - great stuff and largely down to James! (but as always, thanks to everyone who's participating - as Mr Tesco says, every little helps!)

Basically the same reason almost. Plus there's the added incentive of having all the records of this show properly archived (although we still don't have all the shows), which would be very nice for a nerd and "superfan" like me. :D

Just to pull my weight on this project, I spent a load of time over the last week cleaning up the database, checking for any problems and fixing whatever I could find. Generally the standard of accuracy is impressively high. Nevertheless there's a few things that seem to go wrong consistently that you can look out for in future:-

1) Putting CoC games down as Quarter finals, semi-finals etc. They belong in their own category "CoC QFs" etc.
2) Putting games down in the wrong format (eg 9-rounder instead of 14-rounder).
3) Submitting games several times. If you find after you click Submit that you've made a mistake, please submit the corrected version as well and then ask me to delete the wrong version(s). This is much easier for me to fix if you tell me right away. Note that clicking Stop in your browser will generally not prevent the original submission from being added.

With all the new data, we also have some new stats. Theoretical octotal maxes have been extended to include the 9-round era, with some interesting consequences. And the 9-round octochamps page is now almost complete. Interestingly the lowest octotal ever available is still higher than the highest ever achieved! (This is almost true in the 15 round era, but Jack is the only person to beat the 941 mark.)

Thanks for all your good work! We've passed 90% complete now and the end is in sight.

Harvey Freeman's maximum available score seems to have gone wrong. Also, it's interesting that the lowest 8-game potential score involved Helen Grayson's games. She was very high-scoring anyway, so I think her run comes out at 90% of the max. Very good.

Yeah, one of his games has a max of zero because it hasn't been recapped yet. That'll get ironed out in time.

Thanks for this Charlie. As well as all the other benefits, it gives us a much clearer idea of how many recaps are really still outstanding. I will have a scan over it all in the next few days to see if I can spot any further anomalies - if James hasn't already done so!

Aha, it's 83. Quarter and semi details will be available as soon as I get to them during my recappage of series 10. Actually I don't think I've booked out most of the episodes I've recently done so I'll just book out the rest of Series 10.

Just been having a look at the 9 round octochamp page to see if my place in history is secure. There are a few blips I noticed (Tim Morrisey has nine games, one of Sharon Bridge's games has a zero maximum), but what really struck me was Helen Grayson's record. Sadly there's a glitch in that as well, as she only had seven games, and the eighth is actually her quarter-final. But her Ratio in those seven games is 90.3%! What would she have scored if she'd played 10,000 games of apterous? And let's not forget that there had only been a couple of hundred episodes when she appeared, so the 'Countdown favourites' we all know and love would not have been so well known either.

One of the all-time great runs.

I was just thinking the same. I'd noticed before anyway (before averages came up) that she was on for approx 500 if she'd played the extra game and she was the number one seed ahead of an octohamp based on points.
