WAHEY!!!!! I'M BACK :!: :!: :D And a day early too, thanks to Jordan's unexpected retirement. (Although, I will apologise for the lateness of the recap. :P )

So, it's time for a triple bill of Robinson Recap goodness. ;) :) :D

Enjoy. 8-)

Round 1: G U E L R A S P W

C1: PLAGUES (7)
C2: SPRAWL (6)
DC: GRAUPEL (7)
Me: EARPLUGS (8) :geek:
Score: 7–0 (max 8)

So, a bit of a deadly start by Liam here, but I've at least managed to quieten it down with my EARPLUGS. :D

Round 2: Q R L U I E S R O

C1: SQUIRREL (8)
C2: SQUIRE (6)
DC: LIQUOR (6)
Score: 15–0 (max 16)

Aw, nuts :!:  :P I was happy with LORRIES/LOURIES, but I'm tailing to Liam's impressive SQUIRREL. 8-)

Round 3: E D T O N D I A U

C1: DETAIN (6)
C2: untoned
DC: DONATED (7) AUDITED (7) DAUNTED (7)
OT: DUODENA (7) TOADIED (7) UNAIDED (7) UNDATED (7)
Score: 21–0 (max 23)

Oh dear, a phantom N keeps Tristam on nought, as Liam misses all seven of the 7's available.

Round 4: S O C P A I R E G

C1: SPACIER (7)
C2: SOAPIER (7)
DC: GROPES (6) GRAPES (6)
OT: CARGOES (7) COPIERS (7) CORSAGE (7) PICAROS (7) PORGIES (7) PROSAIC (7) SCORIAE (7) SCRAPIE (7)
Score: 28–7 (max 30)

Loadsa loadsa 7's in this one. :D Super flatness reigns. :)

A PICARO is a rogue or vagabond.
SCORIA (plural SCORIAE) is the refuse, dross, or slag left after melting or smelting metal; scum.
SCRAPIE is an infectious, usually fatal brain disease of sheep, characterized by twitching of the neck and head, grinding of the teeth, and scraping of itching portions of skin against fixed objects with a subsequent loss of wool, caused by an unidentified sticky agent that clings to cell membranes.

Round 5: 100, 8, 3, 10, 5, 2. Target: 196.

C1: 196. (100 x 2) - (5 - (8 - (10 - 3))) (10)
C2: 196. (100 x 2) - (8 / (10 / 5)) (10)
Score: 38–17 (max 40)

Quite a lot of ways to solve this one, but our contestants seem to have taken the longest routes possible. :P

Kate talks about her time spent in Libya during the bombing campaign in the 1980's, and how Colonel Gadaffi's wife managed to phone the TV centre to ask for films of her choice to be broadcast nationwide.

Teatime teaser: HERSLOTS -> HOLSTERS

Round 6: Z N T I E D A G R

C1: redating
C2: TRADING (7)
DC: GRADIENT (8) TREADING (8)
OT: DERATING (8)
Score: 38–24 (max 48)

Tristam gets back in it slightly, thanks to Liam's unsuccessful gamble, although he'll be slightly kicking himself for not sticking the E into his TRADING..........

Round 7: U A K S O P E T J

C1: UPTAKE (6)
C2: POETS (5)
DC: uptakes KOPJES (6)
OT: JAKEST (6) TAUPES (6)
Score: 44–24 (max 54)

Hmmmm, UPTAKE is fine, but not the plural, seemed bizarre to me, but there you go. :P

JAKEST is an adjective from JAKE, meaning satisfactory, OK or fine.

Round 8: N H D A I M E R S

C1: MINDERS (7)
C2: dashier
DC: MISHEARD (8)
OT: MINDSHARE (18)
Score: 51–24 (max 72)

Oh dear, the lead now seems to be opening up for Liam now, since you can't be dashier. Maybe Tristam should've taken the MINDSHARE option instead.

MINDSHARE is the level of awareness in the minds of consumers that a particular product commands.

Round 9: R F S O E L I T B

C1: BLISTER (7)
C2: foilers
DC: BOTFLIES (8)
OT: FILBERTS (8) TREFOILS (8)
Score: 58–24 (max 80)

Now you can't be a foiler. You just get the feeling that a Liam victory is now a "Shaw" thing.

A FILBERT is the thick-shelled, edible nut of certain cultivated varieties of hazel, especially of Corylus avellana, of Europe.
A TREFOIL is any of numerous plants belonging to the genus Trifolium, of the legume family, having usually digitate leaves of three leaflets and reddish, purple, yellow, or white flower heads, comprising the common clovers.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of "Sphinx" and "thug".

Round 10: 2, 9, 4, 1, 10, 5. Target: 167.

C1: 167. (10 x 4 x (5 - 1)) + 9 - 2 (10)
C2: 165.
Score: 68–24 (max 90)

And that 6 small gamble doesn't work for Tristam either. It seems like a long way back for him now..............

Teatime teaser: HEATBUNS -> SUNBATHE

Round 11: Y S A E A L N E A

C1: EASEL (5)
C2: LANES (5)
DC: ANALYSE (7)
Score: 73–29 (max 97)

Wow, quite shocked that neither contestant spotted ANALYSE here. It seemed pretty obvious to me. :?

Round 12: T H C O I A R E N

C1: REACTION (8)
C2: rachet
DC: ANCHORITE (18)
Score: 81–29 (max 115)

Well, well, well. Seems like DC have managed to find ANCHORITE after missing it in yesterday's show. Oh well, while we debate about that endlessly, Liam has wrapped up his second win. :D

Round 13: O A W M V E D I M

C1: MIAOWED (7)
C2: MOVED (5)
DC: MEADOW (6) WAIVED (6)
Score: 88–29 (max 122)

Now that's purrrrrrrrrrrrrfection for Liam here. :P Enough said. 8-)

Round 14: 3, 8, 6, 8, 4, 7. Target: 311.

C1: 315. Mistake in working.
C2: -
RR: 311. (((4 x 8) + 6) x 8) + 7 (10)
Score: 88–29 (max 132)

Well, it didn't work the first time, and it went one worse for Tristam this time, not only can he not solve it, but Liam's method is all awry too. Surprisingly, Rachel needs extra time to solve it too. :o

Round 15: D E N I M C L U B

C2 buzzes on 9.75 seconds to say UNCLIMBED which is correct.
Final Score: 88–39 (max 142)

Well, Tristam has the last word, as he, like his chances of getting in the champions' chair, will forever remain UNCLIMBED.

Liam definitely has lots of promise, and 185 points from 2 games means that he could be a serious challenger if he can maintain this form for another 6 shows. Join me tomorrow to see if he can get any closer. 8-)

So, till then, bye bye. ;) :) :D
