Enjoy the show.

Round 1: O T U S E R I Y A

C1: OSTERIA (7)
C2: SORTIE (6)
DC: SAUTOIR (7) OYSTER (6)
OT: ESTUARY (7)
Score: 7–0 (max 7)

Jonathan's at it already, offering what is defined as 'a simple or inexpensive Italian restaurant' :D

Round 2: D L R E I E S H R

C1: shielder
C2: shielder (declared as 8)
DC: DELISH (6)
OT: RELISHED (8)
Score: 7–0 (max 15)

Least said about that the better... surprising that no one found that darren too. :?

Round 3: I S A T O R A O M

C1: AMORIST (7)
C2: RATIOS (6)
DC: roomist
Score: 14–0 (max 22)

Darrenic spot from Jonathan this time, as he continues to shut out James. Penny's making up words again.

Round 4: T G I A W J O E N

C1: TOWAGE (6)
C2: TOWING (6)
DC: TWINGE (6)
OT: EATING (6) JAWING (6) TAGINE (6) TAJINE (6) TAWING (6) TEAING (6) TOEING (6) TOWNIE (6) WIGEON (6)
Score: 20–6 (max 28)

Flat 6's and a couple of Countdown faves in there too. James is now off the mark.

Round 5: 50, 25, 100, 75, 9, 6. Target: 475.

C1: 475. 9*50+25 (10)
C2: 475. 6*75+25 (10)
Score: 30–16 (max 38)

And a simple numbers game to start off. :)

Penny tries to disprove another 'thing that Mums say' - 'Don't talk to strangers!'

Teatime teaser: ENDLYRIC -> CYLINDER

Round 6: S Z D U I E R O T

C1: OUTSIDER (8)
C2: OUTRIDES (8)
DC: DUSTIER (7) STEROID (7)
OT: OUTSIZED (8)
Score: 38–24 (max 46)

Round 7: E X A D I F A N E

C1: enfixed
C2: diane
DC: DEFINE (6) DEAFEN (6)
OT: ADNEXA (6) INFEED (6)
Score: 38–24 (max 52)

Invalid words from both here.
ADNEXA are the parts adjoining an organ in the body.

Round 8: H L C A O I N R U

C1: HIROLA (6)
C2: CLARION (7)
OT: CORNUAL (7) INOCULA (7)
Score: 38–31 (max 59)

James bridges the gap as he finds a nice 7.
A HIROLA is a rare yellowish-brown antelope native to Kenya and Somalia.
A CLARION is a shrill narrow-tubed war trumpet.

Round 9: I P E N O S E C O

C1: SENECIO (7)
C2: COPIES (6)
OT: OPSONIC (7) PEONIES (7)
Score: 45–31 (max 66)

But Jonathan fights back to keep the gap at 14.
SENECIO is a plant of the genus that includes ragworts and groundsels. Nope, I'm none the wiser either. :D

OoW: Susie discusses the origin of 'honeymoon'.

Round 10: 50, 100, 8, 6, 1, 5. Target: 128.

C1: 128. (50+5+1)/(8-6)+100 (10)
C2: 128. 100+50-(6*5-8) (10)
Score: 55–41 (max 76)

More easy numbers. Onto part 3

Teatime teaser: BROWNISA -> RAINBOWS

Round 11: A D E T A N O V U

C1: AVAUNT (6)
C2: DONATE (6)
DC: VAUNTED (7)
OT: NOVATED (7)
Score: 61–47 (max 83)

Jonathan could have capitalised there, had he tweaked his word, but he still looks in control.

Round 12: C A K E F L I G W

C1: FICKLE (6)
C2: FICKLE (6)
DC: filage walkie
OT: FACILE (6)
Score: 67–53 (max 89)

Not much on offer but both parties find a 6. More nonsense offerings from Penny Smith! :)

Round 13: E P O D I B E M U

C1: IMPEDE (6)
C2: IMBUED (6)
DC: MOPED (5) PODIUM (6) bemoped
OT: BUMPED (6)
Score: 73–59 (max 95)

James finds arguably the better word, but he needs a win on the numbers to be in with a chance...

Round 14: 6, 5, 10, 1, 3, 8. Target: 650.

C1: 650. (8+6-1)*5*10 (10)
C2: 650. (8+6-1)*5*10 (10)
Score: 83–69 (max 105)

... and he gambles with 6 small. But for the third time today, it's really easy.

Round 15: C R Y A T N I T E

C1 buzzes on 0.8 second to say CERTAINTY which is correct.
Final Score: 93–69 (max 115)

But with conundrum spotting as sharp as that, he wouldn't have had much of a chance, anyway!! :D

Raw score: 98-87
Maxes: 11-8

Again, Jonathan is just below the 100, but that was still rather fantastic! While on another day, James may have done better against weaker opposition.
