Round 1: A T U F O R A T I

C1: TARTUFO (7)
C2: TAROT (5)
Score: 7–0 (max 7)

Yummy, an unidentified flying tart. :P Oh well, it might not be that, but it's a perfect darrenic start for Jonathan, thanks to his (literally) last second spot. 8-)

Round 2: R U M O S D A E T

C1: RADOMES (7)
C2: STORMED (7)
DC: MUSTARD (7)
OT: AROUSED (7) DETOURS (7) DOUREST (7) MAESTRO (7) MATURED (7) MATURES (7) REMUDAS (7) ROASTED (7) ROUSTED (7) SMARTED (7) STARDOM (7) STRUMAE (7) TORSADE (7) TSARDOM (7)
Score: 14–7 (max 14)

Super flatness all round. 8-)

In the southwestern USA, a REMUDA is a group of saddle horses from which ranch hands choose mounts for the day.
In botany, a STRUMA (plural STRUMAE) is a cushionlike swelling on an organ, as that at one side of the base of the capsule in many mosses.

Round 3: O R I L E T I E L

C1: LOITER (6)
C2: RETILE (6)
OT: ILLITE (6) LOERIE (6) OILIER (6) RELLIE (6) RETELL (6) TELLER (6) TILLER (6) TOILER (6)
Score: 20–13 (max 20)

More flatness, this time of the 6 variety, although you might be a bit on the disappointed side if you were in ODE2r mode, as LORILET was available from this bunch just over a year ago............. :geek:

An ILLITE is any of a group of clay minerals, hydrous potassium aluminosilicates, characterized by a three-layer micalike structure and a gray, light green, or yellowish-brown colour.

Round 4: S A N O D N A O R

C1: NARDOOS (7)
C2: radons
DC: RADON (5)
OT: RANDANS (7)
Score: 27–13 (max 27)

Another brilliant 7 from Jonathan. He doesn't like to drop many points, does he :?:

A RANDAN is a rowboat designed for three people, one person in the middle using two oars and the other two using one oar each.

Round 5: 50, 5, 4, 8, 5, 6. Target: 996.

C1: 996. ((50 x 5) - (6 - 5)) x 4 (10)
C2: 995.
Score: 37–13 (max 37)

Another max for Jonathan. After agonisingly missing out on Monday, will today be the day :?:

Saira talks about trying to teach her son, Zach, how to be a gentleman, learning from the master............, Nick. 8-)

Teatime teaser: THEROLEI -> HOTELIER

Round 6: F I N E T D O E S

C1: SOFTENED (8)
C2: FINEST (6)
DC: INFESTED (8)
Score: 45–13 (max 45)

Just to prove that he doesn't need fancy words all the time, here's something to SOFTEN the blow. :)

Round 7: O G E N A W E M K

C1: MANEGE (6)
C2: WONGA (5)
DC: MENAGE (6)
OT: AWOKEN (6) GENOME (6) WEAKEN (6)
Score: 51–13 (max 51)

More 6's, but Stewart is just being greedy with his WONGA. :P

Round 8: N O G E U D S E R

C1: UNDERGOES (18)
C2: REDONE (6)
Score: 69–13 (max 69)

And at last :!: :!: :!: Just about the only thing that Jonathan hadn't had was a 9. HE DOES NOW. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Round 9: O V E L I R E O J

C1: OVERLIE (7)
C2: RELIVE (6)
OT: RELIEVO (7)
Score: 76–13 (max 76)

Am I the only one who thought that when he said "7", that he would go for RELIEVO :?: :P

A RELIEVO is the projection of a figure or part from the ground or plane on which it is formed, as in sculpture or similar work.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of the nursery rhyme, Old Mother Hubbard.

Round 10: 100, 75, 4, 7, 7, 10. Target: 110.

C1: 110. 100 + 10 (10)
C2: 110. 100 + 10 (10)
Score: 86–23 (max 86)

NEXT................. :P

Teatime teaser: LINEROPE -> LEPORINE

Round 11: I G O N U T P M E

C1: POUTING (7)
C2: GUMPTION (8)
DC: PIGMENT (7) PIMENTO (7)
Score: 86–31 (max 94)

NO!NO!!NO!!!NO!!!!NO!!!!! It's the curse of round 11 again for our Jonathan, but well done to Stewart, who although he is well behind, has definitely shown more skill than some of the contestants from last week. :) And he even beat DC too. 8-)

Round 12: H A Y E I S L A H

C1: EASILY (6)
C2: AISLE (5)
DC: ALIYAH (6) aliyahs
OT: SHALEY (6) SHEILA (6)
Score: 92–31 (max 100)

Just 6's here, but DC try and make a 7, but Susie misses out on the fact that the plural of ALIYAH is ALIYOTH, not aliyahs........

Round 13: E B O T I S A V I

C1: OBVIATES (8)
C2: OVATES (6)
DC: BOATIES (7)
Score: 100–31 (max 108)

Yet another darren for Jonathan and he gets his ton in double-quick time today. :D

Round 14: 25, 100, 9, 10, 8, 1. Target: 794.

C1: 794. (100 x 8) - (25 - (10 + 9)) (10)
C2: 792.
Score: 110–31 (max 118)

Now that's how to find a 6. Still a 100% record in the numbers for Jonathan, but what about a 100% conundrum record......... :?

Round 15: R E D N E T T E R

C1 buzzes on 4.25 seconds to say DETERRENT which is correct.
Final Score: 120–31 (max 128)

Stupid question really. Never in doubt. ;) :) :D

And so, for the 2nd time in 3 shows, Jonathan does the super-spectacular, and gets a SECOND 14-MAXER!!!.

I'm pretty sure that only Jack Hurst has done 2 14-maxers in the history of the show, and even then he had to wait to the grand final to get his 2nd one :!: :!:

This is just truly magical. Words actually have failed me, and that's something I never thought I'd say. :P

If he doesn't get to the finals, I'll eat something I don't want to eat. :)

Can he become a half-octochamp tomorrow :?: No, wait, I'll rephrase that, how many points will Jonathan get tomorrow, when he becomes a half-octochamp :?:

Join me tomorrow for that. So, till then, bye bye. ;) :) :D
