Round 1: N L G N C O I U A

C1: LANCING (7)
C2: LOANING (7)
DC: CLONING (7) UNLACING (8)
Score: 7–7 (max 8)

A very good start by DC. Janet and Susie seem to be a formidable combo in DC. 8-)

Round 2: S G O N I O K H I

C1: HOOKING (7)
C2: HOOKING (7)
DC: shooking HOISIN (6)
OT: HINOKIS (7) SHOOING (7)
Score: 14–14 (max 15)

The contestants are HOOKING onto a good 7 each. :)

Round 3: R Y R E A U S R C

C1: CAUSER (6)
C2: SCURRY (6)
OT: CARERS (6) CAUSEY (6) CAYUSE (6) CRYERS (6) CURARE (6) CURERS (6) CURSER (6) RACERS (6) RECURS (6) SAUCER (6) SCARER (6) SCRYER (6) SURREY (6)
Score: 20–20 (max 21)

SUPER FLAT ROUND!!! :D

In the Western U.S., A CAYUSE is a horse, especially an Indian pony.
A SURREY is a light, four-wheeled, two-seated carriage, with or without a top, for four persons.

Round 4: D S E A M O T E R

C1: MASTERED (8)
C2: MASTERED (8)
DC: MODERATES (18)
Score: 28–28 (max 39)

A pretty straightforward 9 spotted by DC, meaning the contestant haven't quite MASTERED this round...........

Round 5: 25, 9, 10, 8, 7, 2. Target: 217.

C1: 217. (25 x 9) - 8 (10)
C2: 217. (25 x 9) - 8 (10)
Score: 38–38 (max 49)

Nice and simple. :)

Janet talks about being recognised in public places, including wearing her clothes inside out while going to get the papers in a supermarket :!:

Teatime teaser: DIMVIEWS -> MIDWIVES

Round 6: B O A R L S E U G

C1: BURGLES (7)
C2: GLARES (6)
DC: BARGE (5) BARGES (6) BELUGAS (7)
OT: GLABROUS (8) ROUSABLE (8)
Score: 45–38 (max 57)

The first breakthrough is made by Stuart as he BURGLES his way into the lead, as both the brilliant 8's are left alone.

GLABROUS is an adjective meaning having a surface devoid of hair or pubescence.

Round 7: P M V E I U A N X

C1: MAUVE (5)
C2: VINE (4)
DC: MINX (4)
RR: PIEMAN (6) :P
OT: PNEUMA (6)
Score: 50–38 (max 63)

Even Rachel comes out on top in this round. :D

Round 8: R E C G A Q E I S

C1: GRACES (6)
C2: CIGARS (6)
DC: CERISE (6)
OT: AGREES (6) CAGIER (6) CARIES (6) CREASE (6) EAGRES (6) EASIER (6) ERICAS (6) GREASE (6)
Score: 56–44 (max 69)

Another lot of 6 flatness. :)

An EAGRE is a tidal bore or flood.
An ERICA is any of numerous low-growing evergreen shrubs or small trees belonging to the genus Erica, of the heath family, including several species of heather.

Round 9: R S E I A S Z D P

C1: PRAISED (7)
C2: PRAISED (7)
DC: DESPAIRS (8)
Score: 63–51 (max 77)

DC's turn to go darrenic yet again, but it's a good high-scoring game already, which is brilliant for us neutrals. 8-)

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of the Irish words, "ming", "puck", "slob", "puss", "galore".

Round 10: 100, 6, 3, 2, 4, 8. Target: 167.

C1: 167. (2 x 4 x 8) + 3 + 100 (10)
C2: 166.
Score: 73–51 (max 87)

Oh dear, Stuart's advantage is extended even further now. Is this starting to turn anti-climactic now :?:

Teatime teaser: OURITEMS -> MOISTURE

Round 11: N F T T O E A E P

C1: FATTEN (6)
C2: TEAPOT (6)
DC: POTENT (6) POTEEN (6)
OT: NEPETA (6) NOTATE (6) OPTANT (6) PATENT (6) PATTEE (6) PATTEN (6)
Score: 79–57 (max 93)

Another round of reasonable flatness. :P

Round 12: D A W O N L E T A

C1: LAWNED (6)
C2: WANTED (6)
DC: WETLAND (7)
OT: TALONED (7)
Score: 85–63 (max 100)

LAWNED seemed dubious to me, but it's perfectly good here. A couple of 7's were around too.

Round 13: R V M E I A D J O

C1: ROAMED (6)
C2: ADMIRE (6)
DC: RADOME (6) MAJORED (7)
OT: AVOIDER (7)
Score: 91–69 (max 107)

Stuart has the game quietly finished off, but can he become only the 5th person in this series to get a ton :?:

Round 14: 75, 50, 6, 2, 3, 8. Target: 623.

C1: 623. (75 x 8) + (50 / 2) - (6 / 3) (10)
C2: 623. (75 x 8) + (50 / 2) - (6 / 3) (10)
Score: 101–79 (max 117)

Amazingly, I did it the same way too, although I'm sure there's a simpler way, but Stuart has his ton. Quite nice to see the first "1" being used too. 8-)

Round 15: L O V E I N O U T

C1 buzzes on 20 seconds to say EVOLUTION which is correct.
Final Score: 111–79 (max 127)

And appropriately, with the England cricket team playing again, Stuart finishes on a Nelson. :geek:

So, is Stuart on the path to a late placing on the finals leaderboard, 199 points from his 2 wins is pretty impressive. Can he do it for Apterous :?: :D

Join Thomas tomorrow for the last one of this interesting week.

I'll be back next week for my final 2 for a couple of weeks.

So till then, take care of yourselves, BE SURE OF IT. ;) :) :D
