Although I don't like to judge people first time around (at their ability to play Countdown, any other way is fine) I'm going to go ahead and do it anyway. An impressive first win from Debbi with spots such as ARTISAN and TIMBALE suggest she might be around for a while, although its fair to say with todays game her numbers ability hasnt really been tested. It will be interesting to see how she fares tomorrow.

Absolutely, awesome debut from Debbi, very impressed.

BTW I am on a stag weekend as of lunchtime Thursday, so my recap won't be up until later than usual, but it will be along some time next week.

Yes, Tuesday's recap is the best place to mention this.

I was impressed as well. I had to risk MIXABLE when she had TIMBALE - a good spot!

Here are my thoughts on the game:

Letters Round #2:

Debbi, I thought you were going to floor Carol! My other thought is that undereat is a prefix and wouldn't be allowed!

Letters Round #4:

What the heck is timbale?

Letters Round #7:

I was surprised conmen wasn't there too! Could that be because it is a compound word?

I didn't watch it - but surely Susie referred to "rozzers" not "rossers" near round 9? I'm amazed "conmen" isn't in the dictionary. Good to see "timbale" turnng up again.

Duly amended. I'd never heard of the word before so didn't know the spelling.

Jason, compound words and prefix/suffix words are perfectly allowable on Countdown, eg RICEPAPER, UNDERRATE. It just so happens that UNDEREAT and CONMEN aren't in the ODE2r, possibly because they aren't used enough or something. CON MAN is currently only recognised as 2 words in the ODE2r.

As for TIMBALE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timbale_(food)
