Countdown Recap - Wednesday 16th September 2009 (Series 61, Prelim 43)

Champion (C1): Bob De Caux (5 wins, 426 points), a former investment banker from London who can frequently be spotted on Apterous. Challenger (C2): Jeffrey Burgin, a sports fan, Apterite, and lover of cheesy one-hit wonders. Will Jeffrey need the support of a Spirit in the Sky today, or will Burgin Kill the Apterous Star?
DC: Susie Dent and Jo 'Pussierot' Brand
RR: Rachel Riley, being suggestive once again when told the Americans call Wednesday "hump-day"
OT: Other words, solutions and unfunny twaddle

Philpot's final thought:

This is the final show I'll be able to recap for a while as next week sees the start of a new 'semester' at university. My timetable suggests I will be in lectures on a Wednesday afternoon, and I'll be away from my beloved Sky+ box. I couldn't have picked a much more exciting game on which to bow out for now, as it seemed to have a bit of everything: non-existant words, a non-existant nine from both contestants and the fallibility of the less than deluxe^ ODE2r. This lead to an exciting contest with a strong new champion unlucky not to get a century on his debut - though, to be fair, beyond this lady luck was certainly on his side!

Well done to Jeffrey - will he string a few hits together or simply be a one-hit wonder himself? Tune in tomorrow to find out!

Oh I have but I detest it - and that's when I tried one I forgot to record at home and had to use 4oD from my desktop PC.

Recapping from a 1024×600 10" screen? Sounds like my idea of hell.

Ah, cool cool. I suppose I should have said "what's wrong with 4oD" rather than "have you not tried it", since it'd be a bit weird if you hadn't :P

Here is Jason's explanation from ages ago for this term, so we don't end up having that discussion again http://www.c4countdown.co.uk/viewtopic. ... ump#p35091

All the one hit wonders references made that a very witty swan song Chris. Good luck at university.
