Countdown recap for Monday 3 February 2020.
1st time doing a recap, do be kind! :)

RR: Rachel Riley.
OT: Other words or solutions.

Round 1: R O N I H A L S I

John: IRONS (5)
Matt: shaolin
DC: haironsil SIRLOIN (7)
OT: HIROLAS (7) IRONIAS (7) IRONISH (7) LIAISON (7) NOIRISH (7) RAINISH (7)
Score: 5–0 (max 7)

John can only conjure up a 5 in a tricky looking selection, but points are points, as Matt's "brave" attempt with Shaolin is unfortunately capitalised.

Round 2: D G T X U A O T E

John: OUTAGE (6)
Matt: GOAT (4)
DC: DOTAGE (6) OUTDATE (7)
OT: OUTGATE (7)
Score: 11–0 (max 14)

Matt only gets a 4 in this round, whilst John gets 6 additional points with a Countdown favourite, OUTAGE.

Round 3: 100, 50, 4, 9, 8, 7. Target: 322.

John: 321. (100 x 4) - (9 x 8) - 7 (7)
Matt: 318.
RR: 322. (7 - 4) x 50 + 100 + 9 x 8 (10)
Score: 18–0 (max 24)

Teatime teaser: ERUPTTERM -> TRUMPETER

Round 4: V S I A R B O N I

John: BRAINS (6)
Matt: VISION (6)
DC: ROBINIAS (8)
Score: 24–6 (max 32)

Round 5: F E H I Q T U M O

John: THIEF (5)
Matt: THIEF (5)
DC: MOUTH (5) MOTIF (5) QUOIT (5)
OT: FUMET (5) HOMIE (5) MEITH (5) METHI (5) METHO (5) MUFTI (5) OTIUM (5) OUTIE (5) QUIET (5) QUITE (5) QUOTE (5) QUOTH (5) TOQUE (5)
Score: 29–11 (max 37)

No thieving here! Letters are not being particularly kind so far.....

Round 6: 100, 6, 6, 1, 9, 7. Target: 392.

John: 393. (9 - (6 - 1)) x 100 - 7 (7)
Matt: -
RR: 392. (100 / (9 - 6 - 1) + 6) x 7 (10)
Score: 36–11 (max 47)

Dr. Phil talks about trying to improve life expectancy in deprived areas.

Round 7: S E T A R O W S E

John: ORATES (6)
Matt: RESTS (5)
DC: sowester SWEATERS (8)
Score: 42–11 (max 55)

Matt is sadly unable to gain points in this letters round, unlike his previous 2. Looking like the deal has been sealed for John, but John could easily be a "Sweater" if Matt manages to pull a comeback and put pressure on him.

Round 8: L N K A O U D P I

John: POUND (5)
Matt: ALOUD (5)
DC: POUNDAL (7)
OT: PLANDOK (7)
Score: 47–16 (max 62)

Round 9: 25, 50, 4, 8, 10, 3. Target: 617.

John: 618.
Matt: 617. (50 + 8 + 4) x 10 - 3 (10)
Score: 47–26 (max 72)

A nice solve from Matt gives him an additional 10.

Teatime teaser: CROPSSEED -> PROCESSED

Round 10: D R E A B N M O E

John: breadmen
Matt: DREAM (5)
DC: ABDOMEN (7) MEANDER (7) ; BEMOANED (8) from RR as well.
Score: 47–31 (max 80)

Plausible attempt from John, which is sadly no good, as Matt's 5 has cut John's lead by 15 points. Rachel also shows off her lexical skill, by beating Susie and Phil in DC with BEMOANED.

Round 11: J A R U D O C E S

John: CAROUSED (8)
Matt: SCARED (6)
Score: 55–31 (max 88)

A great 8 from John leaves Matt scared on 6.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of hair colours.

Round 12: F L A E T S T I P

John: FLATTIES (8)
Matt: STAPLE (6)
OT: FLEAPITS (8)
Score: 63–31 (max 96)

Another strong 8 solidifies John's lead.

Round 13: N O M E W A N R I

John: MANNER (6)
Matt: MANNER (6)
DC: AIRWOMEN (8) NANOWIRE (8)
Score: 69–37 (max 104)

Round 14: 100, 25, 8, 6, 7, 4. Target: 891.

John: 893. 100 x 8 + (25 x 4) - 7 (7)
Matt: 893. 100 x 8 + (25 x 4) - 7 (7)
RR: 891. (100 + 7) x 8 + 6 + 4 + 25 (10)
Score: 76–44 (max 114)

Round 15: N U D E H E A L S

John buzzes on 12.25 seconds to say UNLEASHED which is correct.
Final Score: 86–44 (max 124)

A conundrum solve from Mr Barlow means we'll see him attempt win 3 on Tuesday. Will he be able to surpass 86, which he has scored in both of his games? It wasn't quite Matt's day today, but he did have a great spot with Shaolin, even if it was capitalised.

Nicely done, Tom. Just made a few tiny tweaks, but more than happy with this. :)

Thanks James! I can move onto to the March games to avoid any overlapping as it will hopefully avoid some confusion :)

You can do, but I did have to make quite a few alterations to the second one, as you missed quite a few OT beaters, and also don't forget to put in the full descriptions for the Teatime Teasers too...

No problem- I was using the automatic generator for the OT beaters as the wiki was down but may have forgotten to use it on the odd occasion. It's good fun nonetheless :)
