Susie gives a number of names for the # symbol, about half of which I've heard of before. All of the names she listed apart from "diamond" are in the FOLDOC entry.

But it really does my head in that some people call the symbol "hashtag". A hashtag is one of those markers beginning with the # symbol that is used on social networks. The # symbol itself is just a hash (all the other names aside). So a hashtag is, literally, a tag denoted by a hash.
