Round 1: I D M E X A R H B

Zarte: HEDARIM (7)
Bradley: HARMED (6)

A brilliant start by Zarte with an early darrenic 7.

Round 2: I O A L S T I H E

Zarte: HOSTILE (7)
Bradley: ISOLATE (7)
DC: LOATHES (7)
OT: AEOLIST (7) EOLITHS (7) HOLIEST (7) LAITIES (7) LATEISH (7) LITHOES (7) OILIEST (7)
Score: 14–7 (max 14)

Loadsa loadsa 7's.... :P :P

An AEOLIST is a derogatory term for a person who claims to speak with divine inspiration or who behaves as if inspired.

Round 3: 25, 50, 100, 10, 3, 4. Target: 566.

Zarte: 566. ((50 + 4 + 3) x 10) - (100 / 25) (10)
Bradley: 566. ((50 - 3) x 10) + 100 - 4 (10)
Score: 24–17 (max 24)

Teatime teaser: HANDSVICE -> CAVENDISH

Round 4: O O E M L T U D A

Zarte: MODULATE (8)
Bradley: MODULATE (8)
DC: MOULTED (7)
Score: 32–25 (max 32)

Round 5: E P T C I S A V P

Zarte: CAPTIVES (8)
Bradley: CAPTIVES (8)
Score: 40–33 (max 40)

Round 6: 50, 8, 2, 7, 5, 10. Target: 275.

Zarte: 275. (10 + 8 - 7) x (50 / 2) (10)
Bradley: 275. ((8 / 2) x 7 x 10) - 5 (10)

Four simple rounds in a row for our super-elite finalists. 8-) :geek: :ugeek:

Jon talks about one of his broadcasting heroes, John Peel.

Round 7: E U Z R I F S B A

Zarte: FUBSIER (7)
Bradley: FUBSIER (7)
DC: AZURES (6)
Score: 57–50 (max 57)

That's another super cool darren too. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Round 8: E U O W M N R E U

Zarte: neurome
Bradley: wormen
DC: MOREEN (6)
OT: MOURNE (6)
Score: 57–50 (max 63)

WOAH! WOAH!! WOAH!!! And all of a sudden, the brakes have been slammed on!!! Neither Bradley's word (I think it was wormen, even though Susie said rowmen), nor Zarte's 7 are in... :o  :o

A MOURNE is the blunted head of a tilting-lance.

Round 9: 75, 50, 25, 1, 8, 5. Target: 569.

Zarte: 569. (75 x 8) - 25 - 5 - 1 (10)
Bradley: 568.
Score: 67–50 (max 73)

OOPS!!  A bad miss from Bradley, akin to Tom's against him in the semis yesterday, and Zarte gets an unexpected boost.

Teatime teaser: CHINAGRIN -> CHAINRING

Round 10: I E A D R S J E P

Zarte: JAPERIES (8)
Bradley: AIRSPEED (8)
Score: 75–58 (max 81)

Round 11: A R Q O I T G S L

Zarte: TAILORS (7)
Bradley: TAILORS (7)
DC: ORALIST (7)
OT: ALGORIST (8)
Score: 82–65 (max 89)

After the great 8's in the previous round, we're stuck with a pair of TAILORS, as the darrenic 8 is missed by all...

An ALGORIST is a person skilled in the use of Arabic numerals in arithmetic.

Susie's Origins Of Words talks about the origins of "champion".

Round 12: A W E T U R A N O

Zarte: AERONAUT (8)
Bradley: AERONAUT (8)

Bradley: maided
DC: MEDICO (6)
OT: ACEDIA (6) CADDIE (6) DECIMA (6) MADDIE (6) MEDIAD (6)
Score: 96–73 (max 103)

After another double darren, the contest comes to an abrupt end, as Bradley can't be maided, which extends the gap to unassailable heights, meaning that our new CoC has been crowned.... :D :D :D

Round 14: 10, 7, 2, 8, 5, 3. Target: 939.

Zarte: 939. ((8 + 5) x ((10 x 7) + 2)) + 3 (10)
Bradley: 939. ((8 + 5) x ((10 x 7) + 2)) + 3 (10)
Score: 106–83 (max 113)

Now, that's the way to make up from that last numbers game :!: :!: :!: :geek: :geek: :geek: :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:

Round 15: O O H S O N U M B

Zarte buzzes on 23 seconds to say BONHOMOUS which is correct.
Final Score: 116–83 (max 123)

NOW THAT WAS A GREAT CONUNDRUM SPOT :!: :!: :!:

And so it comes to pass, that our new Champion of Champions is ZARTE SIEMPRE!!! (definitely done much better by Jon Culshaw in his Michael Buffer voice... :P :P   )

A worthy champion who has certainly had a super hard run to get here, having the unenvious task of defeating Paul Erdunast in his preliminary, then the unforgettable 150 against Tom Carey in the quarters, before taking out Philip Aston for an unfortunate THIRD TIME in the semis, right up to today's heavyweight encounter with Bradley Horrocks.

But, a massive well done to Zarte for becoming the fifteenth Champion of Champions!!! (We need just one more for a Champion of Champion of Champions super series :!: :!: :!:       :geek: :geek: :geek: :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek: )

But in the meantime, it's back to normality tomorrow, as Brendan Whitehurst, who has stuck in isolation for the last 6 weeks returns to carry on where he left off with his 4 wins, and hopefully become the first octochamp of Series 80!!! ;) :) :D  8-)

So, until then, bye for now, and congratulations once again to Zarte for winning the Champion of Champions!!! :D :D :D 8-) 8-) 8-)   :geek: :geek: :geek: :ugeek: :ugeek: :ugeek:
