An interesting childhood misconception

Post by Jason Larsen »

When I was younger, I always thought hamburger was pork because it has the word ham in it. However, this was before I had heard of Hamburg, Germany.

On the other hand, I figure you all call sausage bangers because you just want to come up with silly British names. We in America have sausage more often for breakfast and not dinner. Obviously, when someone talks about mash in England they mean mashed potatoes, so nobody has to explain something fairly obvious. Incidentally, I ate bangers and mash for dinner once when I was in Massachusetts and when I was finished with my meal it had started raining.

Was that ironic knowing more about England, or what?

Jason, not everyone wants to read every thought that crosses your mind. Please apply some quality control before starting new threads.

This is the off-topic section though, Charlie.

'Off-topic' isn't the same as 'completely random'. Please try to exercise some self-restraint.

I'll remember that, Ben. "Off-topic" is different than "completely random."

I found this to be an interesting and amusing anecdote. Frankly, Jason's post here interests me much more than all of the posts in the two Scrabble threads combined (none of which I have read).
