Employment status poll
Thought I'd run a poll, just to see how true the various Countdown stereotypes are. This is purely out of curiosity, I'm not planning to introduce a C4C tax...

Re: Employment status poll
For now, I am unemployed. In the meantime though, I am going to back to college and do a part-time course in Accountancy.

Self-employed. As often or as seldom as I want. So I've gone for Part Time.

Re: Employment status poll
Basically I would have preferred to get a proper job, but couldn't, so I went into full-time education again. The idea is I'll get my degree and a year working in France, so I should be much more employable at the end of it.

If you cut a gandiseeg in half, do you get two gandiseegs or two halves of a gandiseeg?
Re: Employment status poll
Hah! I actually had a proper job, but preferred to go back into full time education. Currently facing the scary prospect of starting a maths PhD next year, not sure where yet though.Martin Gardner wrote:Basically I would have preferred to get a proper job, but couldn't, so

Re: Employment status poll
Actually this summer I hope to work as a personal French tutor, I'll find out next Monday how I've done on my practice exam but I'm certainly hoping for 90%. You have to remember of course I'm about six years older than my peers and I read in French on the Internet for a few hours every day, so it's not fair to compare the two. But still I'd like to use that result to try and persuade any employers that I'm better than a '1st year French student' as I think it will make me more employable.
Other than that I think I might do some charity work as I don't think I can work full-time at the moment.

Currently working in a library in the Centre for Migration Studies having stupidly missed the funding deadline for AHRC studentships for my PhD application. I plan to apply again next year.
