A very important question in my opinion

Post by Jason Larsen »

I was just wondering about this because my feelings have been a bit stronger than usual lately.

If any of you met me in real life, would you smile and say hi to me?

I would probably get someone else to say "hi", but not allow them to tell you that it was from me.

Does that sound crazy?

Well, I would probably deduce that "you are Jon Corby" unless you introduced yourself.

Ironically, I did not start watching Countdown on a regular basis until Des O'Connor became the host, so David O'Donnell and Jason Cullen are the only ones I know here by face and voice.

You'd be able to recognise me because every time I visit the US I write "Are you Jason Larsen?" on my forehead, with a marker.

I wouldn't say hi, though, I'd probably say "hi-dee-doo-dee" to demonstrate how amusing I am.

I'd definitely say hi mate.

For what it's worth, my enjoyment of this forum is at least doubled by your posts. Sometimes I think you don't mean to amuse me as much as you do but I find it really endearing that your guard is down for us. If anyone ever says anything negative to you on here, they are usually joking.

Keep up the good work Jason! :)

In all sincerity, that's a very good talent to have.

A very interesting question, Jason. Having given this much deliberation I have come to the decision that I probably would say hi, but I wouldn't smile. Therefore, to answer your question 'If any of you met me in real life, would you smile and say hi to me?', my response is no because I would not be saying hi and smiling.

I have been thinking about this question a lot lately, and there are a number of other important details troubling me. To summarise:

* Would I definitely know it was you, and would you be sure that it was me? How would we know that we are meeting the right person?
* In what sort of environment would we be meeting? This is an important question, because if we were in a very noisy place, such as a heavy metal concert, it might not be possible for you to hear me say 'hi'. If this was the case, I would smile and nod, because I would know that you were unable to hear me. But if I know that you can hear me say 'hi', I probably won't smile.
* Time of day, date, climate and air oxygen levels.
* Other important conditions. For example, would either of us have just eaten poison? If I was in the process of dying I wouldn't say hi; I probably wouldn't even acknowledge you.

Looking forward to your response.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi, Richard!

You would definitely recognize me because I am in a wheelchair.

I think I can visualize us meeting in the library because it is a quiet place.

I am most active and awake in the aft4ernoon because I will have had time to refresh by then.

Also, I am a very optimistic person and I know I can take care of myself. I have a good chunk of my life ahead of me.
