Earthquake fun!

Post by Charlie Reams »

I was on the 3rd floor of a fairly old building (Selwyn College) so picked up plenty of the tremors. Remarkably everyone on my floor was woken up (and slightly frenzied) but people on lower floors hardly noticed.

Anyone else in the shock zone?

I sleep through most things (including two lectures this morning) of which the 4.7 on the Richter scale early this morning was one. The noise startled me slightly but in my sleepy slumber I dismissed it as a badger in the attic (WTF!) My little bro is pretty convinced there's a tornado heading our way next! :D

I felt it whilst watching Shaun of the Dead. I thought it was the zombies.

Heh, I was expecting that response. Everybody else seems to think it's fantastic except me.

Which bits are funny?

The bit where they trampoline over the fence made me lose bladder control.

Can you be certain the two events were directly related?

I like the bit when they knock the guy down and then express relief that he's a zombie.

I like it when he doesn't notice everyone's gone.

Also, when they're shooting the zombies in the same format as the game at the start.

Maybe I should give it another go. My opinion may have been tainted by the fact that I didn't see it until after everyone else had, so it was surrounded by this huge hype "zomg this is the funniest film ever!!11" bubble. As such, I probably just sat there getting angrier and angrier that it wasn't living up to the hype. I doubt this is the case, seeing as I'm a well adjusted human being capable of making up my own mind unaffected by hype one way or the other, but I may give it another chance.

It's certainly not a great film but when I watch a British comedy I expect to be disappointed these days. So maybe I enjoyed it because I had already set the bar quite low. I mean, Johnny English, wtf!

That was pretty good! Although I was in Year 7 when I watched it.

You have just completely eroded your credibility in recommending "Shaun of the Dead" to Corby.

I felt the earthquake, but it would've been better if it was bigger.

I used to barely feel earthquakes even though they happened and all my personal belongings shook, but now since I live back home in Seattle so close to the fault line I can feel them a lot more.
