Book recommendations

Post by Marc Meakin »

I've just read a very good book called Johnny Ruin by Dan Dalton
I was surprised that the author is British as it captures aspects of Americana brilliantly.
If you liked Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind you are sure to like this.

Right that's my book recommendation for this year

What are yours ?

Jono is doing a book a week as his new year's resolution for 2018. He'll pop along soon with some of the highlights I'm sure.
I copied some of them from what people recommended him on Facebook and will report back.

I'm a little behind (3 weeks if I finish what I'm currently reading by Sunday).

So far the best ones have been

Book, Author, Suggested by
The Fact of a Body, Marzano-Lesnevich, Charlie
The Woman in White, Wilkie Collins, Rich Priest
Exit West, Mohsin Hamid, Billbo
Buried Giant, Ishiguro, Lauren Hamer
Notes on a Scandal , Zoe Heller, Jamie
Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, Douglas Adams, Phil Reynolds
Flowers for Algernon, Daniel Keyes, Giles

Maybe read a few quick reads like On Chesil Beach McEwan and The Old Man and the Sea by Hemmingway

If I was clever enough I should have bumped one of these threads but as you can see in still having fun posting new threads for the first time in eons.

I'm doing that more and more lately, and ironically if the films good I end up reading the book afterwards.
Last time I did that was with Mudbound.
Both are recommended.
