Bernard Pivot Questionnaire

Post by Mark James »

Since Meakin was looking for a thread about noises it reminded me of the questionnaire that you may be familiar with from the Inside the Actor's Studio tv show. I thought people may want to share what their answers would be.

What is your favourite word?

It used to be paraphernalia but squinancywort has overtaken it thanks to numerous games of omelette. Similarly waqf is up there. Great for a game of hangman.

What is your least favourite word?

Lap. Really only in the context of your legs when sitting though. I don't know what it is about it. I don't mind it when talking about a circuit of a track or what a cat does but there's something about it I can't stand.

What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?

Intelligence.

What turns you off?

Credulousness.

What is your favourite curse word?

I guess it kind of depends how you define a curse word (I don't count the n-word as a curse word for example even though it is rightly pretty unacceptable). To my mind there's really only two that exist anymore, fuck and cunt and I love them both. The others have become either more accepted and have lost an edge or are simply derivatives of fuck.

What sound or noise do you love?

Balls being hit or hitting things. Examples include a perfectly hit golf ball or baseball or a football hitting the back of the net.

What sound or noise do you hate?

The only time the sound of a ball hitting the back of the net is tempered is when it is accompanied by the sound of the opposing team's fans cheering it. Especially when it's just coming from that tiny away section and your own section is almost silent. That contrast of other people being so jubilant while you're annoyed is like a dagger in the heart.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I'm unemployed and would happily stay that way if I could so I don't know. Professional footballer I guess. Unfortunately I hated playing when I was younger and actually fit enough to play. I love it now but can barely last 20 minutes.

What profession would you not like to do?

Eh, all of them.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

If any of the mainstream religions, or anything supernatural really, were true I would want an apology.

Why just a pilot, not an entire series?
