My Weekly Review Blog

Post by Bradley Cates »

If you're a fan of satire, like me, I hope you'll like my WordPress blog about some events of the past week.

I have already done a couple of weekly reviews for you to read and, hopefully, enjoy. The satire in my blog is healthy so I hope that I won't enrage any of you too much, and if you didn't enjoy reading the reviews or the humour, I apologise for wasting your time.

Hope you'll enjoy reading my blog!

Perfectly good reads, Bradley... but not sure I'd really call them satire.

Yeah, I was bit wary about whether it was actually satire or not and just humour. But either or, I would like to be known as a humorist rather than a satirist anyway, so there isn't really much harm done.

[Dennis Pennis] Humorist or satirist, who cares? You're definitely some kind of "-rist job"... [/Dennis Pennis]

Actually, the blog is perfectly well-written, though any humour it contains is very gentle, and not always especially original. But writing humour isn't easy. Stick with it. As long as you solicit some kind of feedback, you'll find out what works and what doesn't.

Punt, Antopolski and many others make a career out of relatively gentle stuff like this on Radio 4. There's certainly a market for it.

I don't remember Punt and Antopolski doing "satire" about horrific violence against women.

I like sport in general but I find the Winter Olympics rather unriveting. Never been skiing, bobsleighing, curling, played ice hockey etc. and have only ice skated a couple of times. Just don't find sports that interesting if I've never tried them out. And that's the thing - they don't do winter sports in school.

Hm. I think that should be made a little clearer then, it has a whiff of plagiarism about it otherwise IMO.

Schoolboy error Bradley, the title has been out of Liverpool's hands since the Chelsea defeat, the Palace result just made it a little easier for City.

You have, but I'm not sure "The first time Manchester United have lost by four goals in the League Cup since 2010" is really evidence for the argument you're trying to make, is it? :?

Perhaps not, but the other five facts are good enough so I'll leave it for now.

Well let's hope you get plenty more to add to it. Out of interest, who do you support, Bradley?

Also I'm keen to hear your take on the 'leaked celebrity nudes' scandal. Do you think you'll be covering that?

I support Everton. And I will do when I start doing the weekly reviews again next week. I didn't mention the scandal in my summer review because the topics I talked about in it I already planned on talking about and the scandal just came out of the blue and it didn't cross my mind.

Good, I can't stand these people who change their team all the time.

Pie, drink and a Mars Bar for a fiver, actually. I've never seen Rachel but Mick Hucknall sat on my knee once. Still traumatised.

Bradley, you as an Evertonian must appreciate the irony, you sold a £10M player (Fellaini) to Manure for £28M and then bought a £10M player (Lukaku) from Chelski for £28M!
