Post by Jordan F »

In what ends up being the last prelim of the week, we have two new contestants due to Eileen Taylor becoming an octochamp yesterday. How will these two fare?

Join Jack for the recap later.

Oh look, it's the East Berks Scrabble Tournament organiser in the challenger's chair. I know him :-) At the British Matchplay Scrabble Championships, for a few years, I was computer operator and Ian was Tournament Director.

Assume you just meant the singular, but it is COGITATOR unfortunately.

DONKEYS and ANODISE as alts to DOESKIN (though there is an 8 in that round).

I too know Ian. We used to play against each other in the Bar Olympics back in our ICL days.
He used to be hot on the Scrabble even then.

Another way to do one of the numberses was (75-10)*(8+6)-9-8 = 893

I'd like to know what this 8 is, as there isn't one according to the solver................ :?

METATE/ROTATE in round 1, URODELES in round 4, HOSTING in round 7, ASSENTED in round 8, AXION in round 11, DAIKONS in round 12 and PICARO in round 13.

1st Numbers Alt.: (75 x 10) + 50 + (9 x 4) = 836
3rd Numbers Alt.: ((100 + 9) x 5) - (50 / 25) - 4 = 539
4th Numbers Alt.: ((75 - 10) x (8 + 6)) - 9 - 8 = 893 (Quite happy getting that in the 30. 8-) (Noticed that Gevin got it that way too. :) )

Only just got chance to watch it, anyone else struggle with that game? Definitely the worst I've played along to any game for a good couple of series.

Surprised no one's mentioned KIDNEYS in round 12. And would HASTING have been an alternative in round 7?

What was the closest anyone got in round 6? I had (75 x (10+5-3)) - 5 = 895.

I managed 892 by doing (75+10+5)x10-5-3.

Didn't you know you can get banned if you use a solver? It seems kyanised is no longer valid as not in ODE3.
