I think the pressure got to Phil a bit on the numbers, though well done to Anthony for getting the second one.

Round 9: QIBLAS

Nice Q word when there's no U.

I like how they talked about World Maths Day a fair bit. I wonder why the date has been moved in the last few years from the original March 14th date, which was more appropiate because of pi being equal to 3.14.

Nicely done again, Phil. Just need to get your numbers sorted out now. 8-)

1st Numbers Alt.: ((8 + 6) x 25) - (9 x 7) = 287

OLEATE in round 2 and KETOSIS/SOFTIES in round 7.

Absolutely right about the numbers - my brain just can't handle the simplest solutions in the studio environment. Even when I had a chance of scoring in the 3rd numbers game, I inexplicably said 5 when I meant to say 7 as a multiplier.

In contrast, I'm feeling fairly relaxed on the letters rounds. I was particularly pleased with GOURAMIS which I had only learnt the previous week from GIAOURS + M. It was interesting when I went for ANDISOL because Susie initially ruled it out and I just accepted this as I was only 50% confident. There was then a brief pause before she realised her mistake. I think she must have heard Andy Platt screaming at the TV in the green room. Editing seemed to smooth this over for the screened version.

I started to feel for Anthony as the game progressed. Although I was winning, it was still uncomfortable to see him beaten on every letters game after the 1st round.

Must admit Philip, had I been Anthony so comprehensively beaten, that when you went to shake hands at the end I would have told you to go to blazes.

CURLED in round 3, GAMETE in round 6 and OVERHAND in Round 12.

3rd Numbers Alt.: 75 x 7 - 2 x (5 + 7 + 4) = 493
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

Well played Philip, I've seen very few as calm and composed as you (in the letters rounds anyway) ;-)
