Spoilers For Wednesday November 30th 2011

Post by James Robinson »

As we're approcahing the end of the 11th month, everything is now in place for the finals, which begin in 8 days time.

So, now we're going to start the search for who will be the carryover champion for the new Hewer era in the New Year.

First up is our new champion, Phyllis Styles, who from a seemingly lost position, managed to beat Kirsten Thompson by a single point, but can she maintain her winning pedigree today, I wonder :?:

Join me for an earlier than normal Robinson Recap later. (In case you're wondering, I'm not on strike, I just took the day off. :) )

3rd Numbers Alt.: ((75 + 9) x 6) - 2 = 502 or to be adventuruous: ((75 - (6 x 2)) x 8) - (9 - 7) = 502

Not the best of games today, but I still got a 14-maxer, so I'm happy. :D

Recap up within the hour,........... hopefully. :)

With a contestant aggregate score of 108, I make that the lowest of the series.

1st numbers alt: (100-10-3)x8-9-8=679
2nd numbers alt (out of time): (75+10+8)x3+25=304
3rd numbers alt: (75-2)x7-9=502

Has anyone said (8*8+3)*10+9 for the first numbers? I thought it was quite neat.
I did the (25+10+3)*8 method for the second one as well, so a couple of quite satisfying ones I thought.
And for completeness, I did (75-2)*7-9 for the boring last one.

Yeah, maybe we should get an apterite to destroy her

Did it the same way actually mate - was really struggling until I abandoned the 100... counter-intuitive.

I've got nothing to add really. Did DC mention ENTHUSE in round 13? That's what I had. And ABHORS in round 8 but they beat it anyway.
I think I twelve-maxed that, which is okay. Conundrum took ages... on apterous you'd never have ING written out in the scramble for an ING solve so I was looking elsewhere for ages. Bad habit.

All these alternatives for the third numbers, and no-one went for

9 x 8 x 7 - 2 = 502

9 x 8 x 7 for 504 is the only sum I remember as opposed to working out. I also spent the whole 30 seconds trying without success to use it to get to 304 in the second numbers.

How come INFOLDS^ isn't in?
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

According to the ODE, it's considered to be an outmoded spelling of ENFOLD, although INFOLDED and INFOLDING are still O.K.
