Spoilers For Monday June 27th 2011
So, we start this week feeling very hot and sticky, unless you're in Scotland, where you've probably only just gone above the defrost option.
So, after that virtually breathtaking climax on Friday (no, not the sight of Jeff in his tights....), Andrew "Drew" Halliburton became only the 4th champion of this series, by literally the smallest of margins. Will it be another white-knuckle ride today, I wonder
My internal sources tell me that Apterite James Wilson is his challenger today.
And in DC this week, making his debut, is by my count, only the 5th cricket-related person to appear in DC, after Brian Johnston, Rachael Heyhoe-Flint, Henry Blofeld and David Lloyd, the former Yorkshire and England cricket captain, Michael Vaughan.
Join Ryan for the recap later.

Re: Spoilers For Monday June 27th 2011
Doesn't PAINTIER have to be specified to be valid? I could only see PAINTY in ODE3. STOOKED for another equal in R8 and
DUALIST in R1. Alt second numbers ((9*5) +8) x (7+3) +1.
Thought I had better post as I guess thanks to Mr Murray most people were watching on 4+1 today. What programme has James Wilson been on recently? Was it Only Connect?

Oh dear, well PAINTIER and PAINTIEST have been allowed in the past, so maybe it's a change.Tony Atkins wrote:Doesn't PAINTIER have to be specified to be valid?
I'm trying to think too, but not sure. It might actually be that.Tony Atkins wrote:What programme has James Wilson been on recently? Was it Only Connect?

PAINTIER and PAINTIEST were only added recently (new in the change from ODE2 to ODE2r I think) and they're out already? Gotta love the flux of the English language.James Robinson wrote:Oh dear, well PAINTIER and PAINTIEST have been allowed in the past, so maybe it's a change.Tony Atkins wrote:Doesn't PAINTIER have to be specified to be valid?

I think that was the first time it appeared, too, as that CoC was the first time the new dictionary was used.Joseph Krol wrote:Probably its most notable appearance was in this game.

"Interestingly", they were in the NODE and all earlier Countdown dictionaries, which means (if the above is correct) they've changed their Countdown status three times. I'd like to think that OUP has a sense of humour and is doing it deliberately.JimBentley wrote:PAINTIER and PAINTIEST were only added recently (new in the change from ODE2 to ODE2r I think) and they're out already? I definitely thought about PAINTIER but didn't fancy being 0-14 down. Was gutted to miss AGOUTIS, but it was just nerves.
Slightly worried Ryan Taylor knows my entire game show history.

No doubt that's what that day's conundrum scramble was referring to.Clive Brooker wrote:"Interestingly", they were in the NODE and all earlier Countdown dictionaries, which means (if the above is correct) they've changed their Countdown status three times.JimBentley wrote:PAINTIER and PAINTIEST were only added recently (new in the change from ODE2 to ODE2r I think) and they're out already?
