Spoilers for Friday, 29th August
Was there no DC beaters in today's game?
I was very pleased that I spotted TARPAULIN in round 2

I just had equallers - ESPARTO and PROTEAS in round 1 and LACERTID in round 12. DC did well today.

Something I only just picked up on today, was that after the letters were picked for round 13, the vowel box was just as empty as the consonant box, so does that mean then, that the letter frequencies for the vowels have changed again?

Well done, Joseph! My getting a 9 letter word always results in a yeah and arms shooting up in the air at home.Joseph Bolas wrote:

I got PARTIAL, which wasn't mentioned, and at least scored points against the contestants.
I got the conundrum , which is quite unusual for me.
Often happens when the contestants don't get it - I suppose because I get the whole 30 seconds to think about it, although I got it about half way through.
Round 5 numbers, I did a different way to Carol:
(4 X 9) + (6/3 )= 38
38 X 25 = 950
950 - 10 = 940
Wow! Some great words there!Kirk Bevins wrote:I just had equallers - ESPARTO and PROTEAS in round 1 and LACERTID in round 12. DC did well today.
I thought the contestant standard was pretty good, too.

Doh should've got that one! Learnt that molecule in 6th form biology and GALACTUS is one of my favourite Marvel characters! (Although I'm more than happy with GELCOATS) Well done on TARPAULIN Joseph. I didn't catch that round but would like to think I would have got it as its another of my favourite words!Jon Corby wrote:There was GALACTOSE in the GELCOATS round. Apparently

ARCHIVE was a DC equaller in round 13 (?) when they offered up CHIMERA
My way of getting to 483 earlier was (75*5) + (10*10) + 8

Thanks - but I must admit I missed TARPAULIN. My housemate got it though - I was quite annoyed!Julie T wrote:Wow! Some great words there!Kirk Bevins wrote:I just had equallers - ESPARTO and PROTEAS in round 1 and LACERTID in round 12. DC did well today.

Me too. I remember it being used as a conundrum and I had made a special effort to learn it as PURITAN(al) to no avail. Missed GLACATOSE too which left me slightly less gutted.Kirk Bevins wrote:Thanks - but I must admit I missed TARPAULIN. My housemate got it though - I was quite annoyed!Julie T wrote:Wow! With the fear of being called a pedant, I think you meant GALACTOSE - I don't want you misremembering it and losing out in CoC!David O'Donnell wrote: Me too.
