Spoilers For Thursday March 31st 2011

Post by James Robinson »

So, we enter Thursday, as well as the end of the first quarter of 2011, an already eventful year, but I didn't need to tell you that, did I :?:

So, we have another new champion, Andrew McNamara, but can he do something that hasn't been done by someone in nearly a week, win more than one show :?: Interestingly, if he loses, we'll have had a different person in the champions' chair for every day this week, something that hasn't happened since September 2008, during Series 59.

I'll be back later with more useless info, as well as a recap of some description. ;) :) :D

Either Paul is really good at spotting letters maxes or he doesn't give Susie enough credit. Although he did give her some champagne.
Mike Brown: "Round 12: T N R S A E I G U

C1: SIGNATURE (18) ["9; not written down"]
C2: SEATING (7)
Score: 108–16 (max 113)

Another niner for Adam and yet another century. Well done, that man."

Yeah I like how he just reels off the words that Susie or others have spotted. Was quite funny when he thought AKIMBO was a Japanese word because he had confused being told that, with being told that MIKADO was there.

And he did this trick really badly!

IMPANATE as beater at some point in 3rd half.

Edit: Then OLEASTER in the following round.

But I'm sure the computer would find these for the recap anyway, so not sure why people bother to do this if they're not playing along in real time.

Today was one of several occasions this series where I've watched Countdown and thought "was he in my audition?" (in London). Useless memory of names and faces.

I'm glad it's not just me who's finding Paul Z unimpressive - yesterday's trick involved curled fingers in his left hand (once he'd taken Susie's ring), which then went below the desk. And yes, I'd prefer it if he didn't sound like he knew all the words (few of which he gets in any case, I suspect). And somehow he sounds smug when announcing the words that have beaten the contestants, but never praises them when they've got a good spot.

So thought I heard Frank say "Carol" instead of "Rachel" during his numbers picks :!:

LUSTRINE and STUDLIER in round 4 and IDEATING and STEADING in round 13.

3rd Numbers Alt.: ((((8 + 1) x 9) + 7) x 10) + 5 = 885

Some pretty weak games this week. Makes me wonder how I failed my audition. :)
