Spoilers For Friday February 4th 2011

Post by James Robinson »

So, week 4 is approaching its climax, with Edward in pole position to wrap up his 3rd win of the week today.

Surely not even these hurricane strength winds will get in his way :!:

Join Mike for the recap in a bit. ;) :) :D

In the first numbers round I missed the obvious method but I quite like this method:

(100-(((50/25)*9)-5))*10

Monster performance from Ed, loving this run. The audience have been pretty noisy this week, enjoyed it.

Great week of Countdown with firstly Dave and then Ed and Gregg is awesome. Harsh conundrums for Ed though in 2 out of 3 of his games.

Was Ed on for a max game there? I was well excited. Another new word for the conundrum and it was a mega toughie too. I guessed gailmeter, lol.

Nice fun show today, good stuff. :)

Would have been good to have seen Ed's face after Rachel's comment during the first round. ;)

And what precisely is a MEGALITRE? Surely a litre is a litre is a litre?

Looked very much like he maxed the first 14 rounds - I was getting very excited too! Another top class performance from Eyeore, sorry Ed! Really enjoyed today's show :)

Looked like a max game although there was definitely one round where it looked there would be something better. My guess for conundrum was ALGIMETRE which was equally shit.

Maybe this has come up before, but after yesterday's as well, do Apterites get harder conundrums? It was a bit unfortunate to get that after today's performance.

What was the unrisked word in the INDOORS round?

Not sure Gevin - I had two conundrums rated 10/10 difficulty on Apterous during my run which were gettable but tricky - would be interesting to see the stats. One for James Robinson to look at I think :)

My guess was MILTERAGE, even though I saw LITREAGE but missed missed the MEGA- prefix. :x

Almost max game? If so, very unlucky Ed. :( But still, excellently played and a great score.

Indeed, just a conundrum away from only the 2nd max game in 15-round history. So cruel. :(

Still mega awesome, Edward. ;) :) :D  8-)

Very harsh indeed. Should not be getting conundrums like that in prelims.

Indexors - it seemed plausible but I wasn't at all sure.

Awesome performance today Ed. I missed ABUSIVE and thus was catching you all game and didn't get the conundrum either so lost 113-120. Phenomenal consistency although I actually laughed out loud a lot with your attempt at pronouncing LITREAGE. So funny!

I was getting so excited for you on for the max game (and also a little nervous as that's like the only record I have left) and to have that as a conundrum was a real stinker - had you got it though it'd be such an awesome way to hit perfection. Mine was similar, 17 seconds to get RAINSTORM...bloody compounds!

Just repeating what everyone else has said, but absolutely phenomenal effort Ed, got to be one of the best on-screen performances ever.

Edward I've just watched it and I'm awestruck! Unlucky with the conundrum (pronounced me-ga-leet-ray ;)). Wonderful performance and entertaining as ever! (hee-haw!)
