For those people who look for such signs, of the four octochamps so far this series, three of them began their runs with programmes which were transmitted on Mondays, even though not all of those first games were the first to be recorded on a day.

He's this guy who played like ten million games of Apterous and went from being utterly shit to really good within just a few months. So this is the first time we'll be seeing a pure-bred Apterite in action (Kirk was already quite good before Apterous come out), and that's pretty exciting. Also he's just generally a nice guy and we like having one of our own on the show.

Is Jimmy on max after the first break? (I don't think DC has offered anything extra at least)
If so, I'm on a max game too.

I think Jimmy's great. He once said I was the best thing that happened to this forum, and I'll worship him forever for saying that.

He missed AIRDROP and PARADOR so he's one off I think.

The combination of Jimmy's debut and the first day of filming in Manchester must make this one of the most epic days in Countdown history.

Impressive stuff. The champion certainly played well and I hope he's still in with a chance of making the top eight.

Woooo. I was at college so I missed it but I don't think I'd want to watch myself anyway (I'm weird like that). I was really excited to know how you thought I did, so thanks for all the comments. I convinced myself that I'd ended up looking like a dick but (thankfully) nobody has said that yet and also my Dad said he thought I came across as smug :o

Everybody I've spoken to has been really excited, so yeah, totally enjoying my 5 minutes of fame. 8-)

Not a fan of the shirt though.

Thought Steve Davies came across as a bit of a tit also.

I, like many on here am a snooker fan and he is a very good pundit on that and when I heard he was on it thought he would be suitable. Disapointed today but we'l see how the rest of the week pans out.

Excellent debut Jimmy, I went out of my way to record it and can't say I was disappointed. Hopefully much more to come!

I thought Steve Davis was pretty decent, his "I had cottled too" line made me laugh but I guess it may have sounded overly harsh to some ears.

Well done guy. Epic first win. Keep up the form and let me think... 115 x 8... hmmm, add a few more points for some 9s that will shurely be available and you may even displace Kirk as number 1 seed! Can't wait for tomorrow's show but it will have to wait cos I'm gonna Manchester with RP. Once again congrats, and any zoo would do well to have you :)

I've just caught up with your game on my Sky Plus Box Jimmy, due to my Recap duties.

What a great start. I thought you came across as a great guy and echo everything else that has been said about you and can't wait to see what develops over the next week or so.

I must admit I thought Steve Davis came across as a really ncie guy (as he does on commentary). Funny how we all hated him when he was knocking out World Championships nineteen to the dozen. How times change.
