The goodie bag for this series is SO MUCH BETTER it's not even funny. It comes in this really nice fabric bag, with a pen, a clock, and all kinds of other stuff that I can't remember. I mean, Countdown is still a bad programme to go on if you just want prizes, but this is a real step up.

I did a -2 game today. I didn't know SUNSPACE and didn't get it, and I didn't get TAMARINS either although I have heard of that. I was quite pleased to get MARTINS, I was thinking of MARTINIS but alas no, it's a proper noun. Good game thought, quality was pretty good, obviously there were a few disallowed words in there otherwise both contestants would have got at least 90.

I had MARTIANS and MARTINIS in the final letters game. In my rather outdated dictionary MARTINIS is fine, but MARTIANS not. Both are on the Scrabble list. Are they both verboten in reality?

Both not valid in Countdown, that is correct.

Christian Bale threw a paddy when one of the film crew on the set Terminator 4 spoiled his scene. No one has out-embarrassed him this week.
