Spoilers for Friday 9th March 2018 (Series 78, Prelim 44)

Post by Thomas Carey »

Zarte's on game 7 and he's got his cool red jacket back which I apologise for calling stupid a few days ago cause it actually looks pretty snazzy. Against him is some guy called Steve who didn't stand a chance, I can't remember much else about him tbh
cheers maus

Was pleased to get an equaller in PINNULE in R1, but it all went down hill after that.

Shame it was such a low max game - the 1000 score seems too far away now.

I agree with both chaps here- don't think the 1000 is likely, but beating 974 is certainly a definitely feasible prospect. Good luck Zarte- hopefully he can achieve this!

And that was the reason why Zarte couldn't score so well today. Nick was actually incorrect to say that Steve held him off when he acutally didn't because he had not beaten him in any of the rounds, only equalled it! I personally found it appalling when he said that and shook my head...

Hang in there Zarte, we'll find out whether you will become the best player in terms of points on Monday! The only time I managed to beat him today was STYRAX in R5 which was a risk from me.

(P.S. If you were on the Daily Chat on Apterous, due to it crashing near the end of the game, in case anyone wants to know, no I did not get the conundrum, I incorrectly guessed it as PACNOYING, I got tricked by the -ING.)

Unless I'm very much mistaken, Zarte has only been beaten in one round so far (the conundrum against Philip).

Has anyone ever equalled or bettered that during an octorun?

(Edit: Dylan was only beaten in one round, although he failed to score in a further four.)

Another record (currently belonging to Dylan) that Zarte can equal.
He currently has 271 points from numbers round. Highest ever is 311 from Dylan. If Zarte gets 4 10s tomorrow he’ll equal it.

Side note - From the wiki, about Dylan:
“He is also the show’s best numbers player, scoring 311 points in 40 numbers games during his octorun.”

Dylan may have the most points from number rounds, but saying he is the show’s best numbers player is pretty subjective.

It's really unbearable not being able to respond to all these speculative posts...

Once it's happened, they won't be speculative posts, will they...

The little "4" logo in the corner of the screen has moved from the top left corner to the top right corner.

We need to ask Graeme how many times it's switched.

My OH and I did the same. Nick is trying to be encouraging to Zarte’s competitors, but some of Nick’s comments are rather annoying! Having said that, we are really enjoying Zarte’s run and feel a bit sorry for Philip Aston having had to play Zarte before Philip had a chance to be an octochamp.

Same here, though I expect it at least cheered the challenger up (ignorance is bliss sometimes...).

In fairness, I think there's few people who'd be likely to beat Dylan in a numbers attack, but point taken.

That’s true :) Maybe ‘considered by some’ might make it better. I reckon you could beat him in a numbers attack ;)

Also, isn't it 32 numbers games?

Edit - I've edited his wiki page.
