As I commented in 'add up the numbers' the first one can be found without rearranging - (25-4+6)x(3x5-4)=297

What a close game...Sam was so on today especially after that nine-letter spot, Chris simply overpowered him...overcoming that moderate 23-point gap and eventually winning by 16 points.
Good job Sam on your performance, all I can say is commiserations, but at least you tried...next in the hot seat will be Phillip Aston on 21 February 2018...

I feel very sorry for Sam, too, cracking player. But Chris made an excellent comeback and made for some very good TV. What a game!!!!!! I was certain Sam had it as well, and by Chris' reaction at the end I think he thought he was very lucky! Apart from those points, I believe Chris has the full potential to Octo though, and this game will be stuck in my mind for a long time!

Cracking game to watch today - Sam you were amazing, LATERISED especially being a brilliant spot and on a different day you could definitely have won a few.
Take nothing from Chris though, he did very well to hold his nerves even when it looked like he was going to the slaughterhouse.

This too, it takes a lot of courage to go on the show, and Sam you should be very proud of yourself.

Great game. Unlucky Sam.
When Sam stuck on 6 in the OUTLAND round I wondered if he too had OUTLAND. I thought it might have been a tactical error. At 23 points up, I think it's generally best to try and make the same spots as your opponent in any 50/50 calls. It's your opponent who needs to try and do the opposite of you.

I pondered this too, I'd definitely have risked in his scenario- you want to try to hold your lead.Gavin Chipper wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2018 3:55 pm Great game. Unlucky Sam.

I agree. If I had Outland I'd have risked it as Chris declared his as a 7 first.

But if he said he had a six I would have stuck with unload.Owen Carroll wrote: ↑Fri Jun 15, 2018 8:04 pm I agree. If I had Outland I'd have risked it as Chris declared his as a 7 first.
