Great end to a great series, huge congratulations to Tom and commiserations to Bradley.
Tough conundrum at the end, especially as neither player has had it on Apterous.

Great game, lads. Well played both, a fitting nail-biting crucial conundrum game between the two top players of the series. :) Many congrats Tom on becoming series champ, well deserved and well done Bradley on being series runner-up. Another top notch series, well done the Countdown team. 8-)

How many times has the finals gone as expected per seeding as in this series?

Wow. Just... WOW. Congratulations to Tom and commiserations to Bra; this could literally be game of the week if it was the grand final of an Apterous tourney. I'm heading back to bed right about now, but I'm sure I'll have more congrats to give later in the day.

3rd Numbers Alt. ("standard method"?): (25 * 4 + 5) * (6 + 3)

Not only that -- it's unpencilled, too!

Five previous times, namely Series 23, 25, 45, 63 and 68. (I'm not Rain Man; there's a handy-dandy template listing those instances on the wiki.)
I'm not dead yet. In a rut right now because of stress from work. I'll be back later in S89. I also plan to bring back the Mastergram - if I can find a way to run a timer or clock through pure MediaWiki without having to upload to Vimeo every time.

If you considered the plurals of PSILOSIS and/or POLIOSIS to be PSILOSES or POLIOSES (though wiktionary gives both as uncountable) instead of PSILOSISES or POLIOSISES, either would give 8 in R4.

Great game. Great show. Great players. Great series. Need I say more? Well done to both!
My scores:
Me:98-100 (Tom) (Couldn't take him to a crucial, but got the conundrum).
Me:105-91 (Bradley) (First and last time I'll beat him!).

Ah cheers Johnny. :)

I'm assuming Bradley took the risk on the last numbers game to try to get a lead thinking the conundrum would be hard to get as has been the case in many finals.

I echo this. Except to add - shit conundrum. Should be a real word.

Excellent final, really well done to both players - it could easily have swung either way. That last numbers game really would have been the turning point and I'm sure on apterous you'd have got it Bradley. Think that gets you series runner up time on apto....(you know what I mean by that!)
However, Tom is our series champion and a deserved one too - a consistently strong player and a very nice guy over all - well done!:D

Looking at the conundrum scramble, RILEYISMS, it seemed to me the obvious scramble should have been MISSRILEY. So lead me to think MISSRILEY would have made the answer much easier to solve.

I concur - however, although I didn't get the conundrum, it is a word I'd had occasion to use in my days in the aerospace industry (back in the fifties, so unsurprisingly forgotten). ;)
