Why did they need a doctor to fill in?

I'll get my (lab) coat.
Possibly the first contestant to accelerate with a mic clipped...

Premium ODO strikes again by not having updates from several months ago.

The recording date was 8th August if that makes any difference to the ODO updates point?

The premium version is behind the free version? This is so ridiculous. Team Countdown should just end their relationship with this sorry excuse for a dictionary provider.

Did I hear "only an 8" used in a round today?

Yes - it looked as if MILEPOST + A was going to come to something - "epistomal" perhaps, as EPISTOME is OK, and you'd expect the related adjective to exist, as PERISTOME/PERISTOMAL are listed.

I know... don't remind me Elliott.
That was the major cringe moment watching back today.

It seemed such a juicy set, I was convinced there would be a 9... I know now (from the wiki) that there wasn't one, but there were 13 different 8's available, so still pretty fruitful. The worst part about the "only an 8" comment was that I assumed Dan was going to have an 8 too (or possibly a 9). So when he declared a 6, I just ended up looking like a smug prick (though it is possible people would already have come to that conclusion having seen a series of numbered badges. ;) )

I was in the studio for the Dr Phil recording day and was slightly surprised by the "badges" - it didn't seem quite in keeping with an otherwise personable and modest (of manner, not ability) player.

I've not watched the recordings but I presume they cut out Dr Phil's advice to Nick to go away for half an hour and come back feeling better about himself "without using your hands...."
