I thought I might as well do these as we're in the most important part of the series.

Close and competitive game today. John Shaw would have won with the extra points from remembering to declare that QINTAR wasn't written down.

Good to see Chris Marshall getting the conundrum from the audience.

Thanks Gev.

Yes John was unlucky with that one but seemed to take it well.

If anyone is wondering, there was no DC spot today as it was an anecdote from Carol Kirkwood talking about this incident https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMk8KKWAq7c

We were all sat in the audience saying to each other "surely they're not going to broadcast this", and alas, they didn't.......

A mass noun but valid on Apterous. I dunno.

It used to be in the dictionary as a derivative of TRUANT, with no indication as to whether it was a mass noun or not, so you would have to allow it. If it now says it's a mass noun, you can't. Validity on Apterous has nothing to do with Countdown.

No but normally it's valid on Apterous because it's been deemed to make sense as a plural - unless it was just left unchanged from before it was listed as a mass noun.

Incidentally, one of the numbers games

100 75 50 25 7 6 133

There can't have been many quarter-finals with a target achievable by using only three of the numbers, with neither contestant getting it and Rachel going a more long-winded way. To be fair, it took me the full thirty seconds to see it.

Saw that 133=7x19 straightaway, as I remember factors of three digit numbers
