This is the last Countdown of 2014. It's another special, featuring two different cases of "Close, but no cigar." First is Duncan McGregor, who scored a very respectable 98 points before losing on a crucial conundrum to Tricia Pay. Another case is Michael McDowell, who was close to a finals spot, essentially tied for 9th with James Wall, but 4 wins weren't enough(even though one was against finalist Paul Worsley). Who'll get some success this time?

In the 372 round, Rachel could have pointed out that one of the contestants could have just added the 1 on at the end rather than going a whole new way.

It was supposed to be Kieran O'Driscoll playing Duncan, but he pulled out 2 days before the recording, so it must be best saying it was a battle of the Mc's. (although I like Jordan's description better. )
