FAINTERS was unlucky for Rachel as Antoinette doesn't seem to know her RETAINS+ stems.
I nearly went for the invalid CURLIES when I spotted the 9.

Well done Antionette.
That conundrum should never have been allowed as she didn't declare. 'I was going to say collector but it's wrong isn't it' is a retraction not a declaration.

I think that makes the max score 157. I had a 145 max on my first game and didn't make the 100,
so well done to Antoinette.

I got 147/157, unfortunately my mum beat me to the conundrum.......

I've been trying to get both my parents on the show, with little to no success, and they both could do reasonably well too.
FASTENER in round 1, EQUATOR in round 8 and HEISTED in round 13.

Well, it was the word she buzzed in with, and she still said it. I don't see a problem with it.

I too thought Nick was a bit lenient with that one. Had it been a crucial one, resulting in a win for Rachel, I think there could have been quite a bit of controversy. Then again maybe it's because it wasn't crucial that Nick was a bit more easy-going about it.

I don't see the problem. You're supposed to buzz in with your declaration. If someone buzzes in without an answer (Hansfords it) or buzzes in with something in mind, but then sees it's actually something else and says that, a lot of people would regard that as cheating. This is just the flipside of that.
What if she'd said "It isn't COLLECTOR, is it?" Should Nick have said "You're right. It isn't"?

Of course it should be taken as a declaration of COLLECTOR. The alternative would be to assume Rachel meant "I was going to say COLLECTOR, but now I think that's wrong, so I'm not giving an answer, and if it turns out to be COLLECTOR then don't give me the points", which is absurd. A contestant can never profit from buzzing in without giving an answer, so why assume that's the contestant's intention if they do give an answer, however doubtfully?
Congratulations on teapotting*, Antoinette.

I don't see the need for debate. You have to take the first answer, which in this case was "I".

Congrats, Antoinette - you came across brilliantly, a rare contestant to whom my reaction is "They'd be good fun on a night out"

Hoping to see more wins!
(Also, regarding the conundrum - what Gevin/Graeme said.)

She clearly said COLLECTER, not COLLECTOR. It shouldn't have stood.

Well I've just watched it back in HD and it's now pretty obvious to me that she said QALEQTA.
